Super Junky Monkey, the pinnacle of Japan’s all-female heavy rock/mixture bands that the country proudly presents to the world! Formed in 1991, they pursued a global path early on by performing live overseas, and made their major-label debut in 1993.
They distilled the contemporaneous mixture sound into their own brand of heaviness; their stunning musicianship, powerful vocals, and explosive live performances were truly peerless, marking them as a band with immense promise.
Sadly, in 1999, their frontwoman and vocalist MUTSUMI623 (Mutsumi Takahashi) suddenly passed away.
Ten years later, in 2009, the three remaining members held a memorial concert, and the following year they performed at Fuji Rock.
Even into the 2020s, though intermittently, they continue to be an active, legendary girls’ band.
The three albums they released in the ’90s are all masterpieces that vacuum-seal the alternative spirit of that era, brimming with their remarkable individuality and talent.

SHOW-YA is a five-member rock band known as pioneers of all-female groups and, having broken into the global scene in 2021, they’ve truly become living legends.
Their 8th single, “Genkai LOVERS,” used in a Showa Shell Sekiyu commercial, was a hit that turned things around for the band at a time when they were still searching for their style and struggling with sales.
With husky vocals and a heavy metal sound, they’ve continued to captivate rock fans beyond the boundaries of the “girls’ band” label.
