[The Legend of Heisei and Makuhari] GLAY’s Best Collection of Popular Songs and Hidden Gems (21–30)
TWO BELL SILENCEGLAY

It’s sung over a driving, high-velocity beat that channels an inexpressible sense of impatience and the struggles of youth.
Rough-hewn yet bursting with fiery energy unique to their indie days, this piece captures the primal spark of a rock band’s early impulse.
In addition to being included on the indie album “Ashes and Diamonds,” released in May 1994, you can also enjoy a re-recorded, rearranged version on the 2009 best-of album “THE GREAT VACATION VOL.2 ~SUPER BEST OF GLAY~.” For longtime fans, it’s likely a cherished track that revives memories of their live-house era.
It’s perfect for cranking up the energy on a drive or blowing away a foul mood.
Immerse yourself in this classic that conveys an unchanging soul even as the band continues to evolve.
fatalismGLAY

A heartwarming human ballad that sings of the preciousness of human connection, themed around everyday greetings and words of gratitude.
Composed by JIRO with lyrics by TAKURO, the song was released in December 2012 as their 47th single.
It was selected as the theme song for Nippon TV’s “Sukkiri!!” for January 2013, and also drew attention for featuring Pierre Nakano of Ling tosite sigure on drums.
Later included on the album “JUSTICE,” this track blends grand strings with a full band sound, creating a stadium-filling sense of scale.
It reminds you how precious the everyday can be, so why not listen while thinking of your family and friends?
SPECIAL THANKSGLAY

This song, their 20th single, features an unforgettable bass melody in the intro, and the guitar that comes in later, roaring like thunder, is incredibly cool.
The key change in the chorus is especially striking.
It evokes a stark sense of cold, stirs up feelings of sorrow and pain, yet also has bright, beautiful moments—an outstanding track that summons a wide range of emotions.
MERMAIDGLAY

The 19th single.
It’s a rock number that prominently features guitar and is performed frequently at live shows.
The drum solo in the middle is cool, and as a performer it demands a high level of skill—many people have probably enjoyed covering it.
White RoadGLAY

The 32nd single was released as a lead single for the ballad best-of album “-Ballad Best Singles- WHITE ROAD.” It’s a song inspired by thoughts of their hometown, Hakodate, and the entire music video was filmed there.
bewildermentGLAY

A double A-side 20th single with “SPECIAL THANKS.” It was used as the theme song for TBS’s ‘U-nan no Hontoko! Mirai Nikki,’ and the lyric “Love sleeps, cherished like midsummer” is particularly striking.
The song features an elaborate arrangement where it briefly stops midway and then restarts from the C melody.
a Boy ~I’ll never forget~GLAY

The 10th single was used as the theme song for NHK’s “POP JAM.” It’s a ballad whose simple beat lets the lyrics sink in smoothly.
Unusually, the bassist JIRO handles the backing vocals.
It’s a song that makes you feel like you can live strongly even on your own.
