pupilŌhara Sakurako

It’s a song that carries the message that there is meaning in trying your best, and that even if you fail, you can always start over.
It’s sung by Sakurako Ohara, who is also active as an actress and radio personality.
It was released in 2015 as her second single.
Her gentle singing voice is lovely.
BOW AND ARROWYonezu Kenshi

This is a song by Kenshi Yonezu, chosen as the theme for the TV anime “Medalist.” A passionate piece that Yonezu, a fan of the original creator, personally requested to make.
It portrays, over a driving melody, the earnest relationship of two people—one supporting and one being supported—running in tandem toward their dream.
Released in January 2025, the song is marked by a powerful message that stirs the listener’s heart.
When you’re taking on a challenge or stuck at a wall and can’t take the next step, listening to it will surely give you courage.
It will gently nudge you forward, supporting your determination not to give up.
To the futureKiroro

Kiroro’s song “Mirai e” gives you an immense sense of comfort, doesn’t it? When you just can’t get motivated or your heart feels worn out, listening to this song brings such a deep reassurance that the tears start flowing uncontrollably.
But this song truly accepts those tears.
So after you’ve had a good cry with a runny nose while listening, your tired heart will clear up and you’ll feel so positive you might wonder if you had really been crying at all.
It’s a song I recommend when your heart is weary and you want to look forward again.
An uplifting song with great lyrics. A wonderful, memorable message (81–90)
Give it some guts!!Urufuruzu

Speaking of fight songs, you just can’t leave out their music! It’s “Guts da ze!!,” one of the signature tracks by the rock band Ulfuls, known for their fiery, soulful songs.
You don’t hear the word “guts” much these days, but when someone tells you “Guts da ze!!,” it strangely fires you up, doesn’t it? The lyrics, written in their characteristically casual wording, really stand out—and that familiar, down-to-earth language actually seeps into a weary heart all the more.
When you feel stuck and on the verge of stopping, give this song a listen.
Heretical StarOfisharu Higedan Dism

It’s a powerful song that pushes you forward if you want to change yourself and live true to who you are without worrying about others’ eyes.
Included on Official Hige Dandism’s mini-album “Report,” released in April 2017, this track delivers a message about the importance of sticking to your own path without yielding to society’s pressure to conform.
The lyrics carry a firm resolve—unafraid of criticism from those around you—and reflect vocalist Satoshi Fujihara’s real-life experience of staying true to his convictions when he switched from drummer to vocalist despite being told, “Don’t do it.” It’s a gem of an anthem that we hope everyone looking to take a new step forward will listen to.
HappinessAI

AI’s “Happiness,” released in 2011, is a classic winter tune and also a fantastic cheer-up song.
With its catchy melody and upbeat vibe that makes you clap along to the rhythm, it’s sure to lift your spirits as you listen.
The lyrics are positive, too, so give it a play whenever you need a boost.
Live!kocchi no kento

For those whose spirits are broken and who are feeling down, I recommend “Don’t Die!” This is a work by Kentsu, the singer and younger brother of Masaki Suda.
The lyrics are crafted to encourage people who are on the verge of losing the will to live, using powerful words.
At the same time, the sound has a jazzy, pop vibe, which keeps it from feeling too heavy—that’s part of its charm.
Pay attention to the words thrown at you at the end as you listen.
It’s sure to help you feel more positive.
