2. From children to teachers (1–10)
A surprise celebration for the principal (director)
A surprise plan for the principal who has been looking over the whole kindergarten! Even though they weren’t your homeroom teacher, let’s express our gratitude to the principal who always watched over you.
Share the words of “thank you” that everyone came up with together, and give a gift like a photo taken with the principal.
To finish, how about everyone raising both arms high and forming an arch with all the graduating children? The stars of the graduation ceremony are the children, but since it’s the final occasion, you want to celebrate together with everyone, don’t you?
A Surprise for the Assistant Teacher

The graduation ceremony is a major milestone for the children.
It’s also a special time for parents and homeroom teachers.
But there are others who have been closely involved with the children day in and day out.
Yes—the assistant teachers who supported the class and were always by the children’s side.
Because they’re not often highlighted during the ceremony, why not plan a surprise to express your gratitude? I’m sure they’ll be moved and delighted, even as they’re taken by surprise.
A surprise gift of a song

In their kindergarten life, the children have probably encountered many songs.
Among them are pieces they practiced hard with their teachers, over and over, for events like the play recital or the annual performance.
As a surprise idea for the graduation ceremony, I’d like to suggest a song.
Choose one filled with memories of the teachers, or a song that conveys what you want to express to the parents, and sing it powerfully with big, lively voices.
It will surely be a wonderful and moving surprise that lets everyone feel how much the children have grown.
A video letter as a gift
As a touching surprise idea, video letters are a classic choice.
Current students can send them to graduating students, and graduates can send them to parents and teachers—what’s wonderful is that it preserves their feelings in a lasting form.
Because they can be prepared in advance, you can carefully think through the message.
You can also edit the footage and add background music to make it even more moving.
These days, video editing can be done with smartphone apps, making it easy to try.
Be sure to create a video letter that will leave lasting memories.
Attach an illustration
If your child finds writing or expressing themselves with words difficult, one idea is to let them draw illustrations to convey their feelings.
It’s also nice to create a message card from the parent to the teacher and have the child draw the illustrations.
It will become a memorable keepsake.
Encourage the children to draw freely.
Even if it’s not specifically about memories with the teacher, the teacher will be happy to see the child’s natural way of expressing themselves.
Since drawing tiny pictures can be challenging, another recommendation is to have them draw on a larger sheet of drawing paper and then fold it to fit into the card.
2. From Children to Teachers (11–20)
Album with messages
How about an album with messages, made as a collage of the children’s photos and notes? Even if you’re not good at drawing, you can create a lovely album using mini stickers and masking tape sold at 100-yen shops.
You can also buy various album supplies at the same 100-yen stores, so use your creativity to make a wonderful album.
If you have the children write their messages on speech-bubble sticky notes and use them as components, you can redo them as many times as you like without worry if there’s a mistake.
message board (with group messages), group card, or collective autograph
How about having all the children in the class create a group message board to send to the teacher? Let’s have each child draw a short message along with their name on a message board and send it.
It would also be lovely to decorate it like a scrapbook using materials from a 100-yen shop.
To give the group message a cohesive look, the key is to decide on the shape and color of the message cards in advance and prepare them ahead of time.
Once you’ve collected the messages, all that’s left is to stick them on, so it’s easy to put together.
If you add a class group photo, the teacher will always be able to remember the children’s faces.
