The guitar as an instrument originated in Spain around the 16th century.
Since then, and all the way up to the present day, countless masterpieces for guitar have continued to be created around the world.
Today, it may be strongly associated with “rock band instruments,” but there are also many works classified as classical music.
I hope this article conveys, even a little, the guitar’s diversity, its charm, and the wonderful music that springs from it!
It’s also recommended for hobbyist guitarists who are looking for new pieces to tackle.

The Depth of Guitar Sounds: A Collection of Cool Guitar Tracks (81–90)
Room45TOTALFAT

A melodic hardcore number that hits you with intensity and exhilaration all at once—it’ll leave your heart feeling refreshed! It’s a track by the three-piece band TOTALFAT, featured as the first song on their 2013 mini-album “SEVEN LIVES.” The way the guitars, drums, bass, and vocals all lock in and push forward as one makes you want to head straight to a live show! You won’t be able to stop turning up the volume.
The nostalgic arpeggio before the chorus is another highlight!
COLD BEATZAZEN BOYS

If you want to hear guitar that doesn’t hog the spotlight yet has a solid presence—guitar that shapes the band’s ensemble—this is it.
‘COLD BEAT’ by Zazen Boys, the rock band led by Hidekazu Mukai, a figure who has influenced countless band musicians.
The same phrase repeats while subtle tricks are slipped in at key moments, creating a charm that makes you want to keep listening.
This goes for ‘COLD BEAT’ as well, but Zazen Boys often change the arrangement of the same song depending on the period they’re active, so be sure to dig around for different recordings!
tristezaHaroldo Lobo Niltinho

A piece by Baden Powell, a classical guitarist born in Brazil in 1937.
Though the era, genre, recording technology, and culture may differ, his virtuosity continues to amaze people across time.
His highly skilled guitar playing, which evokes the spirit of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is likely to earn the respect of fans of any genre, from rock to metal.
In the night sky after the rainRC sakuseshon

RC Succession, led by the legendary Japanese rock icon Kiyoshiro Imawano.
This is one of their signature songs, where Kiyoshiro Imawano’s warm vocals ride over a rock ’n’ roll rhythm.
These days, guitars can express so many things, but hearing this kind of standard, quintessentially electric-guitar performance really puts me at ease.
I’d like to listen while remembering Kiyoshiro Imawano, who left this world in 2009.
Jumpin’ Jack FlashThe Rolling Stones

One of The Rolling Stones’ signature songs and a classic that will continue to be sung for generations.
The “Jack” in the title refers to Jack Dyer, guitarist Keith Richards’s gardener.
At a time when The Rolling Stones were experimenting heavily with psychedelic sounds, this track marked a return to their early blues style.
It was released in 1968.
Diamond Head ~ PipelineThe Ventures

The Ventures, a representative band of guitar instrumentals and surf rock, sparked a huge craze in Japan during the Showa era.
For guitarists, a song where the guitar is pushed this far to the forefront is impossible to ignore.
The tightly chopped phrases and tones, the nuanced use of muting and dynamic touch—these are top-tier techniques, and the subtlety they create makes this song exceptionally satisfying.

Tiger & DragonCRAZY KEN BAND
This is Japanese wildness at its finest—a grown-up, seductive blend of kayōkyoku and rock, a track by Crazy Ken Band.
It’s famous for that line delivered in a deep, gritty voice, but the masculine guitar, the sexy flute, and the piano are all highlights too.
Be sure to tune in to the guitar solo—its tone is the song’s biggest showcase—and let yourself sink into the drummer’s steady 8-beat as you listen.
