Costume Contest

Dressing up in costumes is also a Halloween tradition.
Many children probably spend Halloween in a variety of costumes, such as jack-o’-lanterns or their favorite anime characters.
If you turned it into a costume contest, wouldn’t the kids enjoy it even more? It would be exciting to win a prize for your own outfit.
Some children might even be inspired to work hard on making their costumes by hand for the contest.
Starting by making the costumes together with friends or family could become a wonderful memory.
Devil’s Breath

Let’s liven things up with a fun game using an air cannon.
An air cannon works by taking advantage of the principle where air pushed out when the box is struck shoots forward and forms a vortex ring that pulls in air from the inside to the outside.
Use the air vortices produced by the air cannon to blow out candle flames.
If you fill the box with incense smoke, the vortex becomes easier to see.
Kids will likely take on this science-experiment-like game with sparkling eyes.
Enjoy it at Halloween while mixing in some knowledge about air cannons.
to suck (someone’s) lifeblood

This is a tomato juice game inspired by the image of vampires drinking blood.
Put various things into tomato juice and have people guess what’s inside.
If you add juices like orange or apple, kids of a wide range of ages can join in.
For upper elementary school children, some may be fine with ingredients that have strong flavors, such as wasabi or mustard.
Watch how the children are doing and choose what to add accordingly.
Unexpected combinations might turn out delicious—or terrible—and that can make the game really exciting.
Steal the snacks! Red Light, Green Light

An old game called “Daruma-san ga koronda.” Let’s adapt it with a Halloween twist and play! Place candy directly behind the ‘oni’ (the tagger).
Just like in the original, you can walk or move while the oni is facing away, but if you move even a little when the oni turns around, you’re out! Sneak up without being noticed, grab the candy behind the oni, and return to the starting point.
If you get caught moving, put the candy back and start over from the starting point.
Candy senbonbiki (a thousand-string prize pull)

Senbonbiki, a classic festival game that’s long been loved, gets a Halloween twist with this candy version.
All you need to make it are a box with side openings to hook your fingers, yarn or other strings, small bags for the candy, and the candy itself—simple to prepare and perfect as the star attraction of your party.
Tying it to Halloween with candy also links nicely to the event itself and makes it extra fun.
By swapping out the bags or prizes, it can shine at other occasions like Christmas, too, so it’s a game we highly recommend trying at least once.
Long Straw Showdown

Isn’t it exciting to visit variety shops during the Halloween season? Many people can’t help but be thrilled by items and party goods you don’t usually see.
Let’s try a game using those party goods: a speed-drinking contest with extra-long straws! For drinks, orange or purple ones are great to boost the Halloween mood.
The straw is so long you could wrap it around your body—you’ll need lung capacity, but give it your all, suck hard, and see how fast you can finish!
Zombie outbreak! Take them down with a Nerf!

Speaking of Halloween, things with strong horror elements like ghosts, witches, and skeletons really set the mood, don’t they? Toy sections overflow with a horror vibe during the Halloween season, too.
I’ve seen not just decorations but also moving zombies and skeletons for sale, and it might be fun to play with those.
Aim your Nerf blaster at the attacking zombies and fire away like you’re in a real zombie movie! Little kids might get genuinely scared—honestly, even adults might find it scary!
