pumpkin basket

Halloween! Pumpkin basket — easy Scandinavian-style diagonal weave. Also great as a hanging ornament.

Let’s make an atmospheric Halloween decoration by crafting a jack-o’-lantern using mesh cord! First, prepare twelve orange mesh cords, each 26 cm long, and mark the center on four of them.

Create the first weave using those four cords, then add the remaining cords.

Next, mark the base with a pencil and fold along the marks using a ruler or another straight edge.

Continue weaving the upright cords, then fold the upper ends back and weave them into the body to finish the edge.

Finally, glue on the jack-o’-lantern’s face and handle, and you’re done!

These pumpkin candies can be used for Halloween candy parties and as decorations for dining scenes.

Let’s make this cute, easy, and fun item together with the kids! Cut a sheet of origami into quarters and fold one quarter in half to make a crease.

Fold all four corners toward the center, then fold along the center crease, leaving one corner sticking out at the top.

Take another sheet of origami and fold it in half, then fold the top and bottom toward the center.

Fold the top and bottom diagonally, rotate it, and fold the corners toward the center.

Make one more identical piece, attach both pieces to the main body, and your candy is complete.

Many origami creations are flat, but this pumpkin origami is three-dimensional and box-shaped—and the lid is cleverly shaped like a hat.

If you use orange origami paper, it becomes a pumpkin; if you use white, it becomes a ghost—so you can create various Halloween motifs just by changing the color of the paper.

You can also place small candies or trinkets inside the finished piece.

The pointy hat lid is adorable, too—try making it with black or purple origami paper and set it on top of the box!

Twirl-Twirl Wand

It’s a toy where you can enjoy watching an illustration spin round and round inside a ring.

After attaching string to a piece of cardboard with a cut-out center, stick an illustration to the middle of the string.

Since you’ll attach illustrations to both the front and back, draw them on paper cut to the same size in advance.

Decorate the frame with colored paper, then finish by attaching a paper straw.

It’s fun to make illustrations like ghosts and spiders, and we recommend pairing them with matching images like bats or thread.

You can also change the expressions on the front and back for extra fun—it’s a handmade wand you can enjoy.

frolicking paper cup ghost

Since it's Halloween, I want to let the paper cups join in the fun too.

The moment you saw “a frolicking paper cup,” you probably thought, “What on earth is that?” But if you actually make one, it’s exactly that—and it’s really fun! First, make two slits on opposite sides near the rim of the paper cup.

Next, loop a rubber band around a battery and secure it with tape.

Then hook the rubber band attached to the battery onto the slits in the cup, and you’re done.

Twist the battery to wind up the rubber band, set the cup on a table, and let go of the battery… The paper cup frolics around beautifully.

If you draw a ghost or an animal on the cup, it looks adorable and somehow even more excited—you won’t be able to help laughing! Be sure to try it with your child and have fun together.
