Why not try making Halloween-specific decorations with yarn? By connecting cute round parts, it seems you can easily create Halloween décor.

The materials are felt, craft glue, scissors, yarn, tissue paper, and a hot glue gun.

Since the materials like felt and yarn have a soft, fluffy texture, the finished piece will likely have a warm, cozy feel.

Be sure to mix in motifs like jack-o’-lanterns and ghosts among the parts as you make it!

Do you know about the cultural tradition of piñatas? A piñata refers to a festive object said to have originated in Mexico and other Central and South American countries.

It’s made of paper, and the exciting, fun part is breaking the piñata—hung from the ceiling—using a stick, and having candy spill out from inside.

This time, let’s try making a simple piñata using a paper bag.

It can be a great opportunity for children to experience cultures outside of Japan.

Be sure to give it a try!

The video introduces seven different craft ideas, so try the ones that seem easy to start with! For example, you can make a jack-o’-lantern by painting your child’s foot with orange paint or stamp ink and adding a paper face, or create a bat by taking a handprint with black paint and attaching a paper face.

The time spent crafting together will surely become a cherished memory, too.

This is a jack-o’-lantern that makes use of the bumps and hollows on the bottom of a plastic bottle.

It’s perfect for a parent–child craft project for Halloween, so why not give it a try? After cutting off the bottom of the plastic bottle, cover it with paper clay and shape it.

By cutting out the pumpkin face with a craft knife, the LED light inside will shine beautifully.

Finish by painting it in your favorite colors and attaching the stem made from paper clay, and you’re done! Letting your child freely choose and paint the colors also helps nurture their creativity.

Making a Halloween costume

Halloween is becoming a big hit in Japan.

It’s a familiar event for kids, too.

Let’s make the perfect costume for the occasion! If a child around two years old wants an easy costume, using plastic bags is recommended.

Choose an orange bag to be a jack-o’-lantern, a white one to be a ghost, and a black one to be a witch.

Draw or stick on your favorite patterns, and you’ll have a simple Halloween costume in no time! Please make sure a guardian handles cutting the holes for the neck and arms.

Spider web decoration

Let’s make a spiderweb decoration! First, cut wavy lines around the rim of a paper cup and draw a face to make a little ghost.

Next, crumple some tissue paper, wrap it with decorative paper, and make candies.

Then paint wooden sticks white and arrange four of them like spokes of a wheel, gluing them together.

The key is to secure them firmly with glue.

To make the spider, wrap black yarn around a plastic fork about 50 times, secure it, then cut it with scissors to create a pom-pom.

Use pipe cleaners to make the spider’s legs and attach them to the pom-pom.

For the finishing touch, stretch white thread around the wooden sticks to form a spiderweb, then attach all the items you made to complete the decoration.

magic wand

Let’s make a magic wand like the kind a witch—one of the classic Halloween motifs—might carry.

A magic wand is an item that makes you want to wave it around as soon as you hold it, instantly boosting your excitement.

This is a super simple idea that also lets each person show their individuality.

The square-folded tip of the wand is a bit tricky, but a star-shaped fold will give you a similar vibe.

You can also add your favorite stickers or draw your own designs.

Try wrapping the wand with tape in your favorite colors and decorating it any way you like!

Ghost Mobile

Introducing a unique “Ghost Mobile” that’s perfect for Halloween parties and events.

All you have to do is print and cut out the ghost templates facing left or right—anyone can make it easily! It’s a great Halloween craft to do with kids or as a recreation activity for seniors.

Punch a hole at the very top of the ghost’s head and thread a string through, then attach a paper clip at the bottom as a weight to finish.

When you pull and lift the string, it spins around with ghost-like, quirky movements, making a striking impression.
