Acorn Art: Santa Claus

Speaking of Christmas, it’s all about Santa Claus! How about making some Santa-themed acorn art? You’ll be drawing Santa on acorns, so it involves some fine detail work, but it’s super cute and highly recommended.

You can also use them as ornaments or straps.

First, paint the entire acorn white, then layer red on top.

After that, draw Santa’s beard and the belt on his outfit, then add the face to finish.

Don’t forget to paint the acorn cap red and put it on, too.

Acorn keychain

Let’s try making a cute keychain using acorns! The basic method is simple: attach a screw eye to the top of the acorn and add a keychain strap.

But as it is, it doesn’t feel very Christmassy, does it…? So how about turning the acorn into Santa Claus with acorn art, or decorating it with ribbons and sparkly stickers? It’s sure to become an adorable Christmas item.

It might also be perfect as a gift for small children.

When you’ve collected a lot of acorns, why not try making a Christmas wreath covered in them? To prevent bugs from emerging, freeze the acorns once and let them dry.

Get a wreath base sold at 100-yen shops, and use a glue gun to attach the acorns however you like.

Once the base is fully covered, wrap a ribbon around it and you’re done! It’s even cuter if you use a variety of acorn types for accents.

Be sure to gather and use the caps, too.

Although this is introduced as a Halloween craft, it’s a fun idea for Christmas too, so let me share it! First, hollow out the inside of an acorn you’ve picked up.

Use a utility knife to make a large cut on the back, peel off the shell, and remove the contents.

Then, using a knife or tools, carve your favorite patterns into the remaining front portion as if you were making paper cutouts.

Work carefully so it doesn’t crack.

Insert an LED, glue the back piece you cut earlier, and it’s done! It looks like a tiny acorn lantern—so cute.

Apply glue to the inside of the cap and attach it to the acorn.

Next, paint the acorn in your favorite color and let it dry—that’s it! Using glitter paint will make them even more festive.
