Kids tend to pick up acorns whenever they find them, don’t they?

When you head out for an autumn walk, you probably often bring a bag just for acorns.

In this article, we’ll share Christmas craft ideas that make use of those collected acorns!

You can create lots of cute Christmas items like trees, wreaths, and ornaments, so feel free to use these ideas for inspiration.

It’s said there are 22 species of acorns native to Japan, so it’s also fun to look for different shapes that can add a unique accent to your creations.

Let's make it with acorns! Cute Christmas craft ideas (1–10).

Acorn Christmas Tree

This is a craft project to make a tree using acorns.

Use a plastic cup as the base, and attach acorns to it with a hot glue gun.

Shape them into a triangular tower that tapers upward so the cup doesn’t show.

By adding beads in the gaps between the acorns, the look becomes even more festive.

Place a pine cone at the top as a star to complete the tree.

If you glue the acorns with their pointed ends facing upward, it also helps emphasize the overall triangular tree shape.

Buche de Noel-style Christmas cake

Here’s an idea for a Bûche de Noël-style Christmas cake decorated with acorns! There’s a tree made of clay, a Santa Claus made of construction paper, and the cream is represented with cotton.

In addition to acorns, pinecones are also used as decorations.

Bûche de Noël is a Christmas classic, so why not try making one? Acorns look cute as they are, and you can also paint them.

Feel free to customize it to your liking as you make it.

Acorn Christmas Snow Globe

This is a snow globe made using acorn art.

After prepping the acorns, let’s paint them with acrylics.

Paint the tree green first, then use the tip of your brush to add ornaments.

It’s best to use several colors for a colorful finish.

For Santa Claus, start by painting his face, then add the beard below it.

Paint the hat above the face.

For the reindeer, turn the acorn sideways and paint it that way.

Once the acorn art is complete, glue it onto a round base and place a clear cup over the top to finish! Adding a ribbon to the cup makes it extra cute.

Totoro Christmas wreath

Why not try making a Christmas wreath using acorns and more? This one is a Totoro-themed Christmas wreath.

Totoro is made from acorns and melon seeds—surprising, right? Rounder acorns make it easier to create a Totoro-like shape.

For the wreath base, use one sold at 100-yen shops and the like.

Attach plenty of foraged nuts around Totoro to make it lively.

If you make such a fun wreath, you’ll be counting down the days until Christmas!

The rounded shape of the clear ball is so cute, isn’t it? Let’s use acorns to make decorations that are perfect as Christmas ornaments.

The method is simple: fill the clear ball with cotton to look like snow, along with leaves and acorns.

It’s best to arrange them so there are no gaps and the pieces don’t move around inside.

Put the lid on, add a ribbon, and it’s done! Using larger beads or pom-poms could be adorable too.

Give it a try!
