Christmas frame

A Christmas frame is a special item that lets you enjoy a subtle festive touch.
We’ll make one using a photo frame you can buy at 100-yen shops and the like.
First, remove the clear front sheet and the backing paper, then cover the base with fabric in a color or pattern that suits your project.
Next, attach green moss, artificial flowers, and other decorations to the fabric-covered base to create Christmas-themed pieces like trees or wreaths.
Choose a photo frame that’s the perfect size for the piece you want to make.
Christmas wreath made from fabric scraps

Here’s a wreath idea that’s perfect if you have lots of fabric scraps.
Prepare plenty of square scraps.
For the base, use a donut-shaped Styrofoam ring.
Attach a piece of fabric cut to the same size to the back of the base and secure a hanging string.
Wrap one fabric scrap around a bamboo skewer or similar stick, apply glue from the top, and insert it into the base.
The trick is to insert it straight so the scraps show nicely.
Keep adding fabric until the base is no longer visible, and your wreath is complete!
garland

A garland that really stands out on the wall and instantly brightens up a room.
Let’s make an original garland using tape you can find anywhere! Red and green raffia tape (suzuran tape) is recommended.
Its thin, translucent material gives a light, fluffy volume that suits garlands perfectly.
Just bundle the raffia tape, shape it like pom-poms, and tie them at equal intervals along a long string.
That’s all it takes to create a handmade garland that will instantly light up your space!
Christmas ornament of a gift box

Would you like to make a present-shaped Christmas ornament with cute, colorful wrapping paper? First, make an open-top box out of origami.
Next, take a slightly smaller sheet of origami, trim the edges a little, and make another open-top box the same way.
The larger box will serve as the lid, so fit the two together.
Punch a hole in the center of the lid box and attach a hanging string.
Cut colored foil origami into thin strips to make a ribbon.
Wrap the ribbon around the box, and it’s complete.
It looks adorable if you make it with origami in various colors.
tapestry

How about making a cute Christmas tapestry using items from the 100-yen shop, like a placemat, yarn, and a yarn needle? First, sketch the shape of a tree on a plain placemat with a pencil or pen.
Then stitch the yarn in horizontal rows to fill in the sketched tree shape.
It’s fun how simply lining up straight horizontal lines creates a stylish tree.
Use red, white, and gold thread to decorate the area around it and the tree’s ornaments for a festive touch.
With this warm, handmade tapestry, your Christmas atmosphere will feel softer and more elevated.
Stained glass-style decoration made with laminating

You can make stained-glass-style ornaments with laminating and coloring.
Ornaments that let light shine through are so beautiful, aren’t they? Why not try making one yourself? First, cut out the design outline from a template.
Sandwich it between laminating film and laminate it.
If you don’t have a laminator, self-adhesive laminating sheets are fine.
Once laminated, cut slightly outside the design’s outer border, then draw random lines inside the border with a black permanent marker.
Flip it over, color inside the lines with permanent markers, and you’re done.

Great for party games too! Pinecone Kendama

How about making a pinecone kendama you can play with after crafting? First, use pens and stickers to decorate two paper cups however you like.
Once you’re done, glue the cups together bottom to bottom, then use kite string to connect the cups and the pinecone—that’s it! You can give the cups a Christmas-themed design, or decorate them and imagine the pinecone as a Christmas tree.
With a bit of creativity, it turns into the perfect holiday craft.
Be sure to finish it as a pinecone kendama that looks great on display, too.
