Here’s a simple puzzle you can make using scrap materials.

When you think of puzzles, you probably imagine placing pieces on a board to complete a picture.

But this one uses toilet paper rolls as the pieces, which you slide onto a stick.

Making it is really simple: draw a picture on a toilet paper roll, then cut it into three equal sections.

You can draw with markers or attach construction paper—either works.

For the base, cut a circle out of cardboard, then stand a shortened plastic wrap core vertically in the center and fix it in place.

It’s very easy to make and fun even for small children, so give it a try!

Here’s an idea for a color-matching puzzle you can make using items like clay container lids.

The ice cream motif makes it extra cute.

For this project, you’ll mainly use cardboard to create the base and the frame for the ice cream part.

Cut the frame to match the size of the lids.

Paste blue construction paper onto both the base and the frame for a fresh look.

Next, attach the cone section and reinforce it with OPP tape.

Layer the frame over the base and glue it so it can open and close like a window.

Finally, make the colored sheets that go in between, and you’re done.

To create the colored sheets, line up pieces of construction paper that match the lid colors so they look neat within the frame, then stick them onto another sheet of paper.

If you prepare colored sheets in various colors, kids will be able to play without getting bored!
