One of the members, DJ Premier, is also known as a hit-making producer who supported ’90s rappers like Nas, Common, Rakim, and The Notorious B.I.G.
This is a classic track from their 1993 album Hard to Earn.
It conveys a resolve to “go big with a stripped-down style.”

They won the 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance with this track.
Electric RelaxationA Tribe Called Quest

A Tribe Called Quest, formed in Queens, NY in 1985, is one of the groups known as part of the Native Tongues collective.
Above all, what truly stands out is their smooth, feel-good beats built on jazz samples.
It’s called a classic for a reason—their 1993 release still sounds timeless.
In 2016, they released their final album, “We Got It from Here…

Oh Boy (feat. Juelz Santana)Cam’Ron

A single from the smash hit album COME HOME WITH ME, his first major success after moving to Roc-A-Fella Records.
Produced by Just Blaze, it samples Rose Royce’s I’M GOING DOWN, sped up for effect.
Alongside JAY-Z’s THE BLUEPRINT, it sparked a wave, becoming a mega-hit.
A mellow tune irresistible to hip-hop fans, it drew major attention and buzz for how well it hits and for the freshness of its sound.
HypnotizeNotorious B.I.G

Now that New York hip-hop classics are all the rage, this timeless anthem is enjoying a resurgence and gets spun at least somewhere every weekend! It boldly samples the all-time staple “RISE,” the 1979 Billboard chart-topping track by saxophonist Herb Alpert.
It was originally slated to be the lead single from his second album.
Unfortunately, there was no official U.S.
release, and it only existed as a promo-only vinyl…
