Magic Tricks Perfect for Year-End Parties! Party-Starting Tricks (11–20)
Coin vanish magic with a glass

I’ll introduce a glass-and-coin vanish magic trick that anyone can learn quickly.
You’ll need an empty glass, a glass filled with water, and a 1-yen coin.
Any similar-sized coin will also work, but something close in size is preferable.
First, place the coin on the table and set the empty glass over it.
Next, pour water into the glass that’s over the coin.
The coin will become invisible due to light refraction.
However, it can still be seen from directly above, so cover the top with your hand or otherwise conceal it.
A ring that pierces a pen

Penetration-style magic tricks have an outstanding visual impact, so they really get people excited.
They’re quick to perform, making them perfect as an opener.
Many people probably think penetration tricks require a lot of preparation, but in fact, all you need is a pen and a ring.
Here’s the idea: you place a ring on your palm and tap it with a pen; then the ring appears to penetrate the pen and ends up hanging from it.
In reality, you’re just quickly threading the pen through the ring, but with the right presentation, you can really wow your audience.
Eliminate disposable chopsticks

Many people go to restaurants for year-end and New Year parties.
In times like these, a handy trick to remember is the disappearing chopstick magic.
You can do this trick as long as you have a pair of disposable chopsticks.
The basic position is to hold the chopstick with the thumb, index finger, and middle finger of both hands.
From this position, make a motion as if you’re tossing the chopstick upward.
However, don’t actually throw it—quickly pull the chopstick back with your middle finger and hide it behind your wrist.
This makes it look as if the chopstick has vanished.
Practice in front of a mirror or while recording yourself until it looks natural.
A thousand yen turns into ten thousand yen

It’s a dreamlike magic trick where the 1,000-yen bill you take out of your wallet instantly changes into a 10,000-yen bill.
You take a 1,000-yen bill from your wallet, clearly show both the front and back to everyone, then fold it up small.
After casting a little spell and unfolding the bill, it has somehow turned into a 10,000-yen bill! The secret is that a 10,000-yen bill is pre-folded and hidden on the back.
Once you finish folding the 1,000-yen bill, you simply unfold the hidden 10,000-yen bill.
When showing the front and back, make sure to hold the 10,000-yen bill firmly with your thumb so it can’t be seen.
A coin vanishes from the table

It’s a super simple coin vanish from a tabletop that surprisingly doesn’t get detected often.
First, place a coin on the table.
Any coin works, but larger ones like a 500-yen coin tend to look better.
Next, stack your palms and rub the coin.
As you do this, gradually slide the coin and let it drop under the table—that’s it.
Be sure to drop the coin onto your own foot.
If it hits the floor, the sound will give you away.
Guess a four-digit number written on paper

Many people have seen a magic trick where the magician guesses a four-digit number written on a piece of paper.
You’ve probably wondered how it’s done.
In fact, that trick can be performed anywhere with just an ordinary piece of paper and a pen.
The secret lies in where the number is written.
In this trick, subtly guide the participant to write the number in the upper half of the paper.
Then have them fold the paper into quarters and hand it to you.
From there, when you slip a finger into the folded paper and open it slightly, you can see the number.
It’s a trick where patter is more important than the method, so practice it repeatedly.

A simple number-guessing magic trick you can do with a 3×3 grid!

This is a prediction magic trick where anyone can easily guess the final number.
The trick uses a whiteboard with a 3×3 grid numbered 1–8 and some magnets.
First, have a spectator choose any number.
From that number, move clockwise the number of spaces indicated by the number you landed on.
For example, if the first choice is 6, move 6 spaces; if the next number you land on is 4, move 4 spaces, and so on.
After repeating this three times, you will always end up on 8.
So you place a paper with the number 8 stuck to the back of the whiteboard and reveal that it was “predicted” from the start.
The secret is very simple: just place the even numbers—2, 4, 6, and 8—in specific positions!
