Dance music by a Japanese band

More and more bands are creating songs designed to shine live—tracks you can dance to and have fun with.

This time, we’re spotlighting dance music from Japanese bands.

Even when you’re listening alone in your room, a four-on-the-floor beat makes you want to move.

It’s a roundup we’d especially love student bands—who’ve just started and haven’t picked a cover yet—to check out.

Mr. & Mrs. Balloon feat. GEROCKBIGAMAMA

A tie-up track featuring “GEROLSTEINER.” It showcases BIGMAMA’s hallmark blend of intense rock and soaring violin, distinguished by the use of sparkling water bubble sounds as a musical effect.

The song’s theme is: “Empty your head like a balloon and just dance without overthinking.”

Never-endingBRADIO

This work captivates with BRADIO’s groovy sound.

Its four-on-the-floor rhythm, skillfully infused with elements of funk, soul, and R&B, is guaranteed to get listeners moving.

Included on the album “DANCEHALL MAGIC,” released in May 2023, it also drew attention as the campaign song for Park Row Week.

Featuring an uplifting message and a powerful beat, it sings about the importance of staying true to yourself.

It’s a track that’s sure to ignite a live crowd, yet it feels like magic that can energize you even when you listen alone.

An energetic song we hope everyone striving in the present will hear.

The second single from MONOEYES, the new band led by Takeshi Hosomi of ELLEGARDEN and the HIATUS.

It starts with a relaxed guitar arpeggio and bursts into a fierce distortion sound in the chorus.

It’s a mid-tempo track that makes you want to jump along.

Since the idea for this song came to him on a summer seaside, it might be the perfect track for a drive to the ocean.

This is a dance number featuring a positive message and an upbeat rhythm.

The lyrics, which sing about “fun” and a “spirit of challenge,” energize listeners.

Released in March 2017, it was also used in a popular commercial.

The song drew attention for being a crowd-pleaser at live shows.

That same year, WANIMA made their first appearance on the Kōhaku Uta Gassen, further boosting their popularity.

It’s also recommended for get-togethers with friends and as a practice song for student bands.

The melody, which carries a nostalgic, retro feel, is likely to appeal to a wide range of generations.

The song from the GLOBAL WORK commercial.

It was unveiled for the first time at the Premium V.I.P.

Party at Osaka-jō Hall.

The entire track has been arranged to sound much lighter, with effects on the vocals that give it an airy, floating feel.

Monkey Discooooooothe tellphones

In live shows, it’s a dance number that kicks off with the shout, “Dance like a monkey!” It features vocalist Ishige’s distinctive voice and synthesizer-driven dance music, and we want you to simply feel the joy of music without overthinking it.

Although we announced a hiatus in 2015, we suddenly appeared at VIVA LA ROCK 2018.

It was our first performance since the hiatus—our first live show in about two and a half years.
