Jazz Festivals in Eastern Japan [2026] JAZZ Street List
As the name suggests, a jazz fest refers to a music festival dedicated to jazz.
Sometimes it’s held at a single venue, but quite often it takes place across multiple spots—like live houses, shops around town, or local landmarks.
In those cases, it’s also called a circuit event or a “Jazz Street,” turning the whole city into a wonderful day filled with jazz.

Toride Jazz FestivalMay 2 (Sat)–3 (Sun), Ibaraki Prefecture
The “Toriide Jazz Festival” is a community-focused jazz event hosted by Toride City in Ibaraki Prefecture and the Toride City Cultural Foundation. Structured in two parts—a free amateur stage in May and a paid professional performance in October—the festival’s outdoor special stage at the Civic Hall will feature a diverse lineup of 16 groups, including a citizen big band, school wind ensembles, and music college bands. With food stalls and kitchen cars lining the venue, this regional music festival will fill the Civic Hall with sound and lively energy in May 2026.

Gunma Prefecture
Street live in Takasaki, everywhere you lookSun, 5/10 – Gunma Prefecture
This is a citizen-participation event symbolizing “Takasaki, the City of Music,” co-hosted by the City of Takasaki and the Takasaki Otomachi Project. Around 20 genre-specific live spots will be set up around Takasaki Station, and more than 150 musical acts from within and outside the prefecture will perform simultaneously—one of the largest scales in Northern Kanto. A wide array of music, including pop, rock, jazz, folklore, traditional Japanese music, and a cappella, will fill the streets, with the event scheduled for May 2026.

Asahikawa Music WeekHokkaido, Sun 6/7 to Sun 6/14
Asahikawa Music Week is a music event that turns the entire city into a stage under the banner “A week overflowing with music in Asahikawa,” transforming the early-summer streets. From the North Station Plaza and the Shopping Park to the Asahikawa Civic Culture Hall, inside JR Asahikawa Station, and AEON Mall Asahikawa Nishi, a wide range of genres—brass band, orchestra, choral, jazz, rock, pop, DJ, and traditional Japanese music—resonate together to color “Asahikawa, the Music City of the North.” Featuring performers selected through a public call, the 2026 edition will be held from June 7 to 14.
