Cool hit songs by Johnny’s (1–10)
JAPONICA STYLESixTONES

SixTONES debuted in 2020, but this song had been performed at concerts even before their debut and has remained a fan favorite.
The sound has a distinctly traditional Japanese atmosphere, and the lyrics use words that evoke wa (Japanese aesthetics), leaving a strong impression and conveying the title’s image straightforwardly.
While it incorporates elements of Japanese style, the core is a driving, beat-heavy sound that clearly showcases the group’s power and coolness.
Monsterarashi

This is the 30th single by Arashi, a five-member idol group that went on hiatus in 2020 yet whose members continue to thrive individually.
The song was used as the theme for the TV drama “Kaibutsu-kun” and the film “Kaibutsu-kun,” both starring the group’s leader, Satoshi Ohno, and is known for being especially popular among fans.
Its arrangement features chromatic passages that evoke the title, contrasted with a refreshing melody in the chorus, showcasing Arashi’s remarkable expressive range.
It’s a standout number where a gothic atmosphere meets a catchy tune, letting you fully savor how cool Arashi can be.
Youthful AmigoShūji to Akira

A limited-time unit by Kazuya Kamenashi of KAT-TUN and Tomohisa Yamashita, formerly of NEWS, Shuji to Akira’s song was used as the theme for the TV drama Nobuta wo Produce, in which the two starred.
It also drew attention for being released under the names of their characters in the drama, Shuji Kiritani and Akira Kusano.
Its nostalgic arrangement, evocative of classic idol pop, earned wide support from listeners and became a million seller.
Although they released only this single due to the unit’s limited-time nature, it is still known as a masterpiece that has left its mark on the history of Johnny’s songs.
Naughty GirlKing&Prince

This song was included as the lead track on King & Prince’s first album, King & Prince.
While it’s built on a rhythm-forward, hip-hop-inspired sound, it also exudes a certain calm sensuality.
Guitar tones and brass are incorporated, but they seem primarily intended to highlight the vocals and make them sound even more seductive.
The lyrics, which depict the push and pull and missed connections of a love that doesn’t come easily, also convey a strong sense of allure.
Keep the faithKAT-TUN

This song, which was also used as the theme for the drama Yukan Club, was written and composed by Kyosuke Himuro.
Himuro’s signature powerful rock sound perfectly matches KAT-TUN’s strong, dynamic image.
The lyrics portray the resolve to change from one’s weaker past self into a new self, and the courage to dive boldly into a new world.
It’s a track that both fires you up and reaffirms the bonds with your friends.
A Lump of LoveKinKi Kids

A song by KinKi Kids, who debuted as Johnny’s first duo and laid the groundwork for future Kansai-born Johnny’s idol groups.
It was used in a Morinaga “DARS” commercial and included as the B-side to their 13th single, “Hey! Minna Genki Kai?” There’s an anecdote that it was born from a rebellious spirit of wanting a dramatic, beautiful melody, and you can feel KinKi Kids’ unfathomable passion and talent in it.
With lyrical lyrics and a wistful melody that stirs the heart, it’s a track whose appeal rivals that of the A-side.
Ultramarine RunawayHey! Say! JUMP

This is a song by Hey! Say! JUMP distinguished by a tense, urgent atmosphere and an eerie, unsettling sound, as if something is in pursuit.
Composed by Kuu, who is also a member of the rock band NEE, it was selected as the theme song for the drama “Associate Professor Akira Takatsuki’s Inference,” in which group member Kei Inoo appeared.
Since the drama is a mystery centered on strange phenomena, the song’s sound and lyrics convey a sense of disquiet and instability—an intentional lack of cohesion that seems to express something ominous and unknowable.
