Summer songs that get middle schoolers hyped: Popular tracks to soundtrack your youth (71–80)
Mellow YellowSPiCYSOL

This is a perfect summer track from SPiCYSOL, a four-piece band from Tokyo.
It’s the kind of song you’ll want to play on a Bluetooth speaker while hanging out and making noise with friends outdoors.
If you’re a mature middle schooler who isn’t satisfied with groups like EXILE, this one’s a must-listen.
ConneQtUVERworld

A track released in 2019 by the Japanese rock band UVERworld.
The prominently featured synthesizer tones are striking, and the track’s departure from a conventional rock sound is truly impressive.
At the same time, the lyrics and the message of the song are solid, so it’s a piece you’ll want to listen to repeatedly—discovering various tricks and ideas throughout the entire track.
PLOTUVERworld

UVERworld is a six-member rock band that continues to captivate fans with passionate, stirring messages and a powerful, heavyweight rock sound.
“PLOT,” included as the B-side to their 32nd single “ODD FUTURE,” kicks things off with an opening that features aggressive vocals and instantly raises the energy.
Its message—teaching us the value of fighting on with everything we’ve got, even if we don’t see results yet—can give us the courage to believe in our own dreams.
With a cool rock sound that amps up the heat of the season, this is a power song especially recommended for junior high school students.
At the mercy of the seaYOASOBI

Since the massive success of their debut song “Yoru ni Kakeru,” the music duo YOASOBI has continued to dominate the J-pop scene.
Their 16th digital-only single, “Umi no Manimani,” created as the third installment of their collaboration with Naoki Prize-winning authors and based on an original short story by Mizuki Tsujimura, features a tight melody over a shuffle beat that really sticks in your ears.
Its mysterious lyrics conjure seascape imagery and seem to evoke a sense of reality within the unreal.
It’s a pop yet sentimental number that middle schoolers—burdened with many worries—are likely to relate to somewhere along the way.
SUMMER SONGYUI

If you’re looking for a refreshing pop tune perfect for summer, I recommend YUI’s “SUMMER SONG.” Released in 2008 as her 12th single, it debuted at No.
1 on the Oricon Singles Chart.
It was written as a sequel to “Laugh away,” which was included on the album “I LOVED YESTERDAY.” Whereas “Laugh away” is written from a male perspective, “SUMMER SONG” features lyrics from a female point of view.
It’s a quintessential YUI track, with crisp acoustic guitar strums creating a bright, catchy sound.
Can You Feel It?Yogee New Waves

If you’re looking to listen to something a bit more mature, Yogee New Waves is my recommendation! Since it’s a collaboration with Pocari Sweat, it naturally has a vibe that’s perfect for summer.
It’s a track you’ll want to play while hanging out with friends by the local river.
I like summer.Young Hastle

A summer song with a straight-to-the-point title by Japanese rapper Young Hastle.
With his buzz cut and ripped physique, even you as a middle schooler would admire his look.
The music video, which makes you feel like the best way to spend summer is playing at the river or the beach, is fantastic too!
