Moving Western pop songs recommended for junior high school students: World-famous masterpieces and popular tracks (51–60)
If We Hold On TogetherDiana Ross

This is another song so famous that we even performed it in our middle school band, and the melody is absolutely wonderful.
It’s quite old, but you can still listen to it easily today, and each word is clear and easy to understand, so I think it’s perfect for learning English.
I love its mellow, gentle tone.
Hold OnGood Charlotte

A track with an anti-suicide message.
It was released as a single in 2003 by the American rock band Good Charlotte.
The music video features people who have actually lost family members to suicide.
The track was a hit in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Germany.
Let It GoIdina Menzel

It’s become a song everyone knows by now.
I really do prefer Western music.
This song is simple, so it’s easy to remember if you know it along with the movie.
I think it’s perfect for people listening to Western music for the first time.
It’s a song loved by people of any gender.
SorryJustin Bieber

This is a song by Justin Bieber, who is now incredibly popular.
He sings it casually, but the meaning carries a strong message to today’s youth.
It’s slower than I expected, so it’s easy to catch the words and feels like he’s speaking to you, which makes it a good study resource.
HeroMariah Carey

This song is very slow and gently sung, so the English lyrics are easy to catch and it’s easy to sing at karaoke.
It’s a song that even middle schoolers can sing well, and the melody is so beautiful that I listened to it over and over.
It’s my favorite song among Mariah’s.
