Hit songs and fan favorites by Shinsei Kamattechan

Formed in 2008, they gained popularity through posting their original songs and music videos on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga, as well as through live streams, and made their major debut in 2010.

Their style—turning unvarnished lyrics about dark school-day memories and experiences of being bullied into songs, delivered in a near-scream—drew attention early on.

Their self-produced music videos are also a must-see.

This is a track included on the second album, “Tsumanne.” It’s a very unstable song.

Rather than feeling airy, it has a wobbly, squishy sense of floating that makes you uneasy.

It seems to convey the social position of a NEET and a kind of psychological instability.

This is a track included on the mini-album “Natsu.

Install.” Among Shinsei Kamattechan’s songs, it’s a very pop and catchy tune.

I feel like there’s something that resonates precisely because it’s sung by Noko.

It’s a song that gives you energy.

This is a track included on the 1st mini album “Tomodachi o Koroshite Made” (Even If I Have to Kill My Friends).

In the video uploaded by Noko on YouTube, it’s titled “Yūrei Miman,” but on the album it’s listed as “Yūrei Miman” (with a different stylization).

The keyboard sound is very ‘Kamatte-chan’-like, and the gritty, jangly guitar tone is cool.

This is a track included on the 6th album, “Hero Syndrome.” I’m hooked on the contrast between the song’s light, breezy phrases and the opposing quality of the vocals, along with its floating, airy atmosphere.

The keyboard phrases are incredibly emotional and leave me with a bittersweet feeling.

It’s a track that wasn’t included on any CD.

It’s a very dark song.

It’s popular, but the production is so elaborate that it’s rarely performed live.

I feel like everything is contained in the chorus line: “There’s nothing we can do, there’s no way to change it.”

This is a track included on the 1st album, “Minna Shine” (“Everybody Die”).

The beautiful piano sound and the unstable feel of the gritty, heavily distorted guitar are really cool.

I think a lot of people can relate to this song.

The layered vocals in the latter half are very emotional.

This song turns a melancholy mood into something astonishingly catchy.

The clear, ringing piano set against the overall gritty, glimmering sound creates a wonderfully pleasing imbalance.

It feels like complex emotions have been transformed directly into sound, and the feelings come through straight to the listener.
