distress (at sea/in the mountains); being lost; stranded; a disaster situationToukyou Jihen

In this release, Shiina returned to composing for both the title track and the coupling track.

It’s also said to be the last single featuring members Mikine Hiruma and H Zet M.

The song’s provocative lyrics, its highly distinctive composition, and the unique vocal timbre were captivating and really drew me in.

Queen of KabukichoShiina Ringo

Released in 1998, this is Ringo Sheena’s second single.

The cover photo was shot in Shinjuku Golden Gai.

At the time, Sheena described her style as “Shinjuku-kei”; its distinctive melodies, lyrics, and worldview are irresistible.

Starting the following year, it was also used in a Suntory commercial.

Tomorrow as wellMUSH&Co.

It’s a captivating song produced by Seiji Kameda.

While singing about hope for tomorrow, it also conveys the importance of living fully in the present.

Listening to it really lifts your spirits! Released in December 2013 as the theme song for the film “The Liar and His Lover,” it’s credited to the fictional band MUSH&Co., but it’s actually Sakurako Ohara’s vocals that truly resonate.

As Ohara’s debut single, it drew attention and reached No.

15 on the Oricon weekly chart.

The lyrics, which sing of youthful anxieties and the courage to chase dreams, are sure to strike a chord.

It’s the perfect track when you want to push toward tomorrow or need a boost of energy!

Midnight is purityShiina Ringo

A very stylish, high-quality track packed with jazz elements.

It completely overturns Ms.

Shiina’s previous image, giving off a different kind of mature vibe.

The animated music video—like a female version of Lupin the Third—was also fresh and drew a lot of attention.

Five of us who met online performed and sang Tokyo Jihen’s “Himitsu.”

I don’t think I can possibly put Jihen into words, so I really want you to listen.

The live version of “Himitsu” is a great example, but their live arrangements are always awesome.

They also put a lot of care into the visuals, and I think they’re truly a band that captivates.

DesireDo As Infinity

It was used in the Kao “AUBE” commercial featuring Yuki Uchida.

In the previous AUBE commercial, Do As Infinity’s “We are.” was also used.

It’s a song with a cool, dignified image of a woman and a sense of speed.

Hanemonosupittsu

I listen to Spitz when I’m in the mood to be wrapped in kindness.

This song reminds me of Calpis, so for me it naturally became a summer song.

Its gentleness and freshness are soothing.

When it comes to delicate vocals, I think Spitz is by far the best.
