KEYTALK's classic and popular songs

Let me introduce some songs by KEYTALK, a band known for their fun tracks often described as four-on-the-floor rock.

While many of their songs are catchy and poppy with a four-on-the-floor beat as the foundation, their background surprisingly includes jazz and classical influences.

Teranaka (vo./gt.) has experience in wind ensemble, and Ono (gt.) has a background in classical guitar.

What’s more, the band name KEYTALK is said to come from “Keytalk,” a piece by Hiromi Uehara, one of Japan’s leading jazz pianists.

If you listen with that unexpected background in mind, you might hear their music in a whole new way.

Though rough around the edges, the intro chorus, guitar riffs, and sense of tempo let you feel their youth, drive, and full-on band energy throughout the track.

It’s a fierce song that feels like their own world and vision exploding outward in a big way.

An up-tempo number whose drum roll in the A section and the punchy lead guitar hits instantly ramp up the listener’s excitement.

At first the tempo and the somewhat wistful melody may seem at odds, but Yoshikatsu’s explosive, emotionally charged singing makes the two feel perfectly matched.

This is a song from their indie days, and it even has a music video.

At the time, guitarist Ono had a broken bone and couldn’t actually play, but he pretended to and appeared in the video.

The track is very cool and remains popular, but Ono is so amusing that many people keep replaying it.

The song itself is extremely rock and stylish, and it’s very well-liked.

This is a song themed around the fading scenery of twilight.

It’s a bittersweet one, too! Pay attention to Teranaka’s strong, manly guitar-vocal delivery.

It feels like KEYTALK’s song quality has been improving rapidly lately! I hope they keep charging ahead just like this.

A track whose distinctive lead guitar riff in the first verse lingers in your ears.

The arpeggios, reminiscent of shooting stars, also conjure a night sky filled with countless stars and a blue moon.

The bass slapping during the guitar solo is exceptionally stylish—a highlight you’ll definitely want to hear.

Traveling, included on KEYTALK’s debut mini-album TIMES SQUARE, is a brisk track that blends the rock, punk, fusion, and dance elements characteristic of their early days.

The sound isn’t too heavy, and the vocals give an intriguing impression, as if they’re riding on the wind.

ParallelKEYTALK

This song begins with a guitar that strums a mysterious chord, as if embodying the name “Parallel.” In contrast to the first verse, which evokes a modern atmosphere, the second verse shifts to an offbeat rhythm and riff reminiscent of classic Japanese pop, offering a fascinating sense of time-travel that transports the listener to another world.
