Apple craft with handprint stamps

[Kindergarten/Preschool] Handprint Stamps! September’s Autumn Delicacies! Let’s Put Apples in the Basket! Art & Craft
Apple craft with handprint stamps

Let’s make a basket filled with apples using children’s handprints.

Cut out two basket templates from construction paper: a brown basket with a handle and a white basket without a handle.

Paint the child’s palm red and their middle finger green, then stamp onto the white template to create apples.

The middle finger mark will be the stem, so add leaves with paint.

In the empty spaces, use fingertip stamps to create a caterpillar.

Next, accordion-fold and cut light brown construction paper, then glue it on to represent the basket’s weave.

Finally, glue everything onto the brown basket template to finish.

Here’s how to make a 3D apple.

Cut origami paper to 15 × 17, then fold it in half.

Using a half-apple template, trace the shape and cut it out.

Prepare 30 of these pieces.

Use glue to attach them together in a concertina (accordion) to form the apple shape.

Be careful not to glue the final piece closed.

Next, cut green origami paper into a leaf shape, crease it, and also prepare a leaf for the opened apple.

Roll a triangle of brown origami around a toothpick, then trim it with scissors to the length of the stem.

Finally, attach the stem and apple with double-sided tape, use tweezers to add grooves to the apple, snip a notch in the leaf, attach it, and you’re done!

Apple Ornament [Ages 4+]

Here’s a craft idea for 4–5-year-olds who can handle scissors well.

Take a piece of colored construction paper and fold it into thirds, then draw apples on it.

Draw two apples only halfway, so that they mirror each other along the center.

Once you’re done drawing, cut along the lines with scissors, being careful not to separate the two apples.

After cutting, open up the paper.

You’ve made a garland of connected apples! Attach a string to the back so it can be hung, and it’s complete.

Apples are usually red, but since it’s an ornament, I think making them colorful would be lovely too.

Apple wreath

Apple wreath

Here’s an idea for making an apple wreath using origami.

Fold a sheet of origami paper in half into a square twice, then draw an apple outline and cut it out with scissors.

Make sure to cut it so that four apples stay connected in a chain.

Draw the apple stems with a pen and attach leaves made from another piece of origami paper.

Next, create the wreath base with newspaper.

Roll the newspaper into a long tube, form it into a ring, and secure it with tape.

Glue the origami apples onto the base, attach a string so it can be hung on the wall, and you’re done.

It’s a perfect idea for autumn decorations.

This idea uses apples as a motif to decorate a wall with gradient colors.

Prepare in advance white drawing paper with circles drawn on it and an illustration of apple leaves.

Cut out the circles and leaves with scissors, then start by cutting a sponge into thirds.

Set out paints that evoke red apples and green apples, and apply the paint to the soft side of the sponge.

The key to creating a gradient color is to separate and apply about three different colors.

After dabbing the sponge onto the circular paper, press firmly and pull it across the surface.

Once the paint is dry, attach the leaves and a branch to finish.

Here’s an idea for making an apple using a single sheet of origami paper.

Fold the paper into a triangle, then open it up.

Fold the two left edges so they overlap along the crease.

Make sure the corners are sharply pointed.

Rotate the paper so the pointed corner is at the bottom, then fold the top corner down about 2 centimeters.

Fold the bottom corner up so it sticks out past the top, then fold that tip slightly to the right.

Finally, tuck the surrounding corners inward to round the shape, and you’re done.

If you add a leaf made from another piece of origami paper, it will look even more like an apple.

The familiar paper chains you see at birthday parties.

You link together strips of origami or construction paper into rings, right? This idea uses those paper chains to make apples.

If you’re looking for a wall decoration that’s a bit different from the usual, this could be perfect.

Make the paper chain, then shape it into a ring and add a stem and leaf to create an apple.

When you put them on the wall, try making a tree out of brown construction paper and sticking the apples onto it.

The key is to crumple the construction paper a bit to give it texture!
