large-format picture book
Large-format picture books that are great for big events are also recommended for entrance ceremonies.
Many children know “Nezumimi-kun’s Vest,” and it’s an easy-to-see picture book.
If you start with a fingerplay before the big book, it may help boost the children’s concentration.
Reading a large-format book with two teachers makes for smoother progress.
Decide on roles: one to turn the pages, one to read, and one to support the big book.
Read slowly and clearly while turning the pages.
It’s also important to check that even the children in the back can see as you continue reading!
Songs by currently enrolled children

This is a project where current kindergarteners present a song to the new children joining the school.
It also serves as a way to introduce the kinds of friends they will have at the kindergarten, so it can warmly welcome the new children while also easing the concerns of their parents.
If the new children can feel that they will be able to sing with friends and spend enjoyable time together, they may become less afraid of being separated from their parents.

♪ Original Song – Michinoko Nursery School – Michinoko Nursery School
Express the song “Panda, Rabbit, Koala,” which features various animals, in a fun atmosphere using paper puppets so children can enjoy the sense of rhythm.
The song alone is plenty of fun, but when each animal appears in the lyrics, move the corresponding paper puppet so the kids can easily tell which animal it is.
If the singer’s vocals and movements are well-coordinated, it creates a sense of unity that might make the audience want to join in.
Keep in mind how to convey both the fun and the animals’ cuteness as you create your performance.
3 Hand-Play Songs for New Preschoolers

How about celebrating the new kindergarteners by expressing it through hand-play movements in time with songs, so everyone can enjoy coordinating their actions together? Moving with clear, energetic actions is the key to making it more fun, so some support with the movements might be helpful.
Since you’ll be using songs like “Sakana ga Hanete” (The Fish Jumps), “Sanbiki no Kobuta” (The Three Little Pigs), and “Te o Tatakimashou” (Let’s Clap Our Hands), the motions should be easy to understand.
If the children already know each song, encouraging them to sing out energetically will make it even more enjoyable, so that’s recommended too.
A present from a current kindergarten pupil

As an entrance ceremony activity, we recommend having current students make gifts to present to the new children.
Kids are simply delighted to receive presents from older boys and girls, and for parents, seeing what the children attending that nursery or kindergarten can do may help them feel hopeful about their own child’s growth.
Also, giving the gifts creates connections with the current students, which is something important before starting a new life.
It’s a performance that can give both the children about to start attending and the parents sending them off a positive impression.
The teachers’ play “Little Red Riding Hood”

Little Red Riding Hood is a popular fairy tale that everyone knows.
Since there aren’t many scene changes in Little Red Riding Hood, it has the advantage of being easy to stage as a play.
It’s also recommended because many children who are newly entering kindergarten are already familiar with the story.
Another big advantage is that it’s a fairly serious tale, which makes it easy to draw the audience in.

Paper puppet-style dance ‘Tulip’

It’s a bit of an elaborate setup, but we also recommend attaching the paper puppet (peep-show puppet) to your body as a way to perform.
This involves making big body movements, which makes it easier to get the children laughing.
Using primary-colored construction paper rather than pale colors will make it even more enjoyable.
