Fun songs recommended for kids: Japanese tracks that will make you laugh (1–10)
Shut up.Ado

In 2021, the high school singer Ado suddenly burst onto the scene.
With singing and expressive power that you wouldn’t expect from a high schooler, she’s topped domestic music charts with each release and has garnered strong support from the younger generation.
The song that truly unleashed Ado’s distinctive appeal is “Usseewa.” Its biting lyrics that spit venom at social conventions leave a strong impression.
On YouTube, parody versions of the song are hugely popular.
Although it’s a dark track, its unique lyrics have made it a favorite among children as well.
superstarKetsumeishi

Ketsumeishi’s song “Superstar” is a cheer song with a message encouraging people to find what they can do and take pride in what they love and what they do.
The track was used as the theme song for the TV anime Crayon Shin-chan.
Ketsumeishi is known for a wide range of styles—from breezy tunes to songs about friendship and parting—but even their songs made for children stand out with the group’s signature poppy, upbeat feel.
As the theme of a popular anime, it’s a song that’s very popular with kids.
YouTuber relatable songhajime shachō

Hajime Syacho, a hugely popular YouTuber, is one of Japan’s leading top creators.
He’s even released a song.
As the title suggests, “YouTuber Aruaru Song” is a unique track that turns all-too-relatable things that happen when YouTubers make videos into lyrics.
If you’re a video creator, you’ll definitely relate.
The song was composed by Taiiku Okazaki and features a fast, heavily programmed sound.
Since it’s sung by Hajime Syacho, who’s also very popular with kids, why not use this song as a chance to start running a channel together with your children?
The Song of ‘Pien’hari supiko

The song “Pien no Uta,” which went viral in 2020.
It’s sung by Hari Supiko, who seems to be releasing a series of songs like “Pien no Uta.” It originally drew attention after being used in the horror game “PIEN -Pien-,” climbed onto Spotify’s Viral Chart, and many people posted with this track on TikTok.
The gentle voice singing about crying leaves a strong impression.
The overall structure is simple, so even children could hum along.
Obachaan Themeobachaan

Quirky but fun songs are addictive—you just can’t help listening to them.
“Oba-chan’s Theme” is exactly that kind of song.
It’s sung with love by Osaka’s aunties about their own charm and the appeal of Osaka.
With their flashy outfits, their bold, chatty approach, and the way they hand out candy, they fully embrace the image—and you can even feel their pride in it.
It’s a song overflowing with love for Osaka.
Not only aunties across Japan, but uncles too will probably have a great time singing it at karaoke.
Rat-tat-tatSandaime Jē Sōru Burazāzu fromu Eguzairu Toraibu

“Rat-tat-tat” is a single released by Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS in 2019.
Unlike their previous songs, it has a very playful vibe.
The title phrase is repeated over and over in the chorus, making it incredibly catchy and hard to get out of your head.
It’s perfect for getting everyone hyped at karaoke or for playing at parties so everyone can dance together.
With simple choreography and lyrics, it’s a song that even kids can imitate and sing or dance along to.
Gangnam Style – RevisedPSY

“Gangnam Style,” included on PSY 6甲, the sixth album released in 2012 by Korean rapper-singer-songwriter PSY, is a high-energy EDM-style track that also became popular in Japan.
Believe it or not, there’s a kind of rearranged version of this song.
Titled “Gangnam Style: Kai (Revised),” it’s available on the YouTube channel imod jp.
It overlays the original track with clipped portions of PSY’s vocals turned into Japanese lyrics, and the content is hilariously funny.
I think even kids who don’t know the original will definitely laugh, so please give it a listen!
