Hit and popular songs by Kinoko Teikoku

Let me introduce some songs by the four-piece rock band, Kinoko Teikoku.

They began full-fledged activities in 2008, originally crafting a sound influenced by shoegaze.

It might be a bit hard to imagine, given their current laid-back vibe and emo feel.

However, even now, you can sense traces of that influence in parts of their songs—or, depending on the track, throughout—and I think music fans will find some interesting discoveries in their work.

As for the origin of their band name, it’s said to come from guitarist A-chan’s mushroom-like personality and the fact that the members were fans of Yura Yura Teikoku—hence “Kinoko Teikoku.”

Now, please enjoy Kinoko Teikoku’s songs, full of allure and emo sensibility, with a charm that at times evokes shoegaze.

Kinoko Teikoku’s iconic and popular songs (51–60)

Call my name.kinoko teikoku

This is a song included on the major-label first album, “Neko to Allergy,” released on November 11, 2015.

Compared to Kinoko Teikoku’s usual effect-heavy sound, it has a slightly different vibe, giving off a somewhat homey feel.

The harmony melody in the chorus is especially striking!

24kinoko teikoku

This is a track where the guitar arpeggios and rhythm guitar create a curious interplay.

In a sense, it might be the song that best represents Kinoko Teikoku.

I feel that the worldview of this song is packed into the foundation of all their tracks.

Unknown Planetkinoko teikoku

It is included as the fifth track on the album “Fake World Wonderland” as an instrumental piece.

The more heavily distorted, effect-laden guitar and the slightly worn-out ambience of noise give this track its distinctive character.

Could there be planets like this in the universe that we still don’t know about?

LAST DANCEkinoko teikoku

It’s included as the second track on the major second album, “Ai no Yukue” (Where Love Goes).

If you listen closely to the lyrics, it somehow has the feel of English words using Beatles-like titles.

It’s a song whose medium-tempo rhythm section will get your body swaying.
