Kome Kome Club’s famous and popular songs

We’d like to introduce songs by Kome Kome Club, known for classics like “Roman Hikō” and “Kimi ga Iru Dake de.” Active throughout the ’80s and ’90s with many representative hits, they were drawn to the appeal of live performance as a spatial, total art form.

Their shows featured numerous musicians and dancers, and at the time they were even called a mysterious performance troupe.

The band has a close friendship with guitarist Char.

Their connection began when Kome Kome Club’s drummer quit just before their debut live show, and Char stepped in as a temporary drummer.

Their 2006 reunion was also reportedly sparked by a surprise performance for Char’s 50th birthday, showing the depth of their relationship.

What is this?kome kome CLUB

Included on their fourth album “GO FUNK.” The title comes from the phrase “go-han kuu” (to eat a meal).

The lyrics are quite nonsensical—or at least hard to understand—and the song has a lot of energy.

It’s often performed live, and it’s a track where James Onoda’s presence especially stands out.

A song included in DECADE.

This best-of album features many popular tracks, including mainstream-friendly love songs and hits like “Shake Hip.” I feel like this is the album I’ve listened to the most.

Highly recommended.

This is a very popular song by Kome Kome Club.

It’s been used in various commercials, but it was first used in a JAL commercial in 1990.

It’s the kind of song that makes you want to travel.

In the chorus, “in the sky” sounds like the Japanese phrase “in desu kai.” Afterwards, JAL released a cup soba product called “Soba de Sky.”

Bee Be Beatkome kome CLUB

Free-spirited! As long as we’re having fun right now, that’s all that matters! It feels like the kind of energetic song that’s so very Kome Kome Club, one that was accepted precisely because we were young.

But it really gets the crowd going at live shows—songs like this do! I absolutely loved it back then, too.

Living freely is hard, isn’t it?

FUNK FUJIYAMAkome kome CLUB

This track, included on Kome Kome Club’s fifth album “5 1/2 (Five and a Half)” released in 1989, rides a funk rhythm and features a cheerful tone that evokes the atmosphere of a party set in the fictional “Fujiyama.” Its catchy C minor melody and cleverly integrated funk elements put listeners in a good mood.

At the time of release, it ranked high on the Oricon charts and has remained beloved ever since.

The chorus was frequently used in commercials, making it a well-known favorite despite being an album track.

With its upbeat rhythm and humorous vibe, it’s the perfect song to lift your spirits or energize a party.

Greetings! PARTY NIGHTkome kome CLUB

ORION is included on Kome Kome Club’s 14th single.

It’s a song from their later period.

They often performed it near the end of concerts or during encores, and even now, when I hear this song, I get that “I guess it’s almost over…” feeling—like the Sazae-san Syndrome.

This is a song that was released in 1987.

There are various versions of it, and this video is not the version from when it first came out.

I remember how my excitement shot up when we danced the choreography together at live shows—the one that Chouxcream Shu performs.
