[Exquisite Ballad Songs] K-pop that resonates with the soul. Korean Ballads (1–10)
AbyssJin(from BTS)

Jin, the oldest member of BTS.
In 2020, he surprise-released this ballad on his birthday, December 4.
“Abyss” means a deep chasm or abyss, and it portrays the worries and inner conflicts unique to a top artist who has overturned conventions and expanded every possibility.
It was created with support from Bang Si-hyuk, composer Kye Beom-ju—who is also active as a producer for groups like SEVENTEEN—and, on the lyric side, help from leader RM.
Jin’s overwhelming vocals are on full display.
The falsetto in the chorus, like an offering of prayer or a wish, gives you chills that won’t stop.
I hope, even a little, that his heart can find some rest.
Hug (포옹)SEVENTEEN

It’s a track from the 2019 mini-album “You Made My Dawn.” As times keep changing, there are moments when we can’t keep up, or we end up suppressing ourselves.
This is a song of self-compassion that gently stays with a heart that can’t openly show itself.
The simple, mellow tones of the acoustic guitar are soothing, and the beautiful vocals of the vocal team—Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, DK, and Seungkwan—resonate deeply.
Remember to take time now and then to comfort and care for your own heart—yours and no one else’s.
The Truth UntoldBTS

これは、2018年のアルバム『LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’』に収録されたバラードです。
Produced by world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki, the track features a simple sound that lets the beautiful voices of vocal line members Jung Kook, Jin, V, and Jimin resonate deeply.
With a title meaning “unspoken truth,” it portrays bittersweet emotions in a dreamy, dramatic way.
I find myself thinking how incredible it would be to have someone you could share feelings like this with, but it might be best not to overthink it and simply feel.
Beyond their vocal skill, the song’s expressive power draws you right in—an absolutely wonderful track.
Love poemIU

A ballad by IU that slowly seeps in with a minor-key melody.
It’s included on her 2019 album “Love poem.” As the band sound gradually swells, together with her vocals it feels like the emotions are about to overflow.
Some say it might be a song dedicated to Sulli, formerly of f(x), and along with the lyrics that gently comfort the heart, the words—surely imbued with IU’s wishes—are deeply thought-provoking.
It makes me hope, even a little, for a calmer, more love-filled world.
Lovesick (Prod by. 나얼)Sung Si-kyung

Lovesick (Prod.
by Naul), created by singer Sung Si-kyung, who also shines on Korean variety shows, is a song imbued with a poignant, heart-stirring message centered on parting.
It portrays the moment when feelings you thought you’d let go flare back up as you confront memories of time spent with someone precious.
His emotional vocals over soft, 1990s pop–tinged synths will resonate deeply.
It’s a grand ballad that gently warms the loneliness and solitude of heartbreak.
Lend your ear to this heartwarming sound that brings back days spent with a lover now far away.
When it rainsBTOB-BLUE

A song with a beautifully vivid depiction of rain.
When it rains, I remember the day I broke up with my lover.
Rain shows up a lot in love songs, doesn’t it? While it’s falling, my chest feels unbearably tight.
I think I might calm down once it stops, but then I recall my lover who said they loved the sound and smell of rain.
It makes me realize I still love them.
I can’t help but wish they would come back to me, like the rain returns.
Me After YouPaul Kim

Paul Kim, who debuted in 2014, was already in his mid-20s at the time—considered quite late in the Korean music scene—but he steadily earned recognition thanks to his solid talent.
With this song, he won first place on a music show for the first time in 2018.
The title means something like “Meeting You.” The lyrics describe how meeting his lover made his life richer and happier, and they express a desire to stay together as well as feelings of gratitude.
Paul Kim’s warm vocals are relaxing to listen to.
It’s a very happy love ballad that wraps you in a sense of bliss!
