The high caliber of Asian city pop and indie pop is already well known, and ADOY—a Korean band that delivers wistful, dreamy synth-pop—is one of the standouts.

Since they primarily sing in English rather than Korean, they’re also easy to recommend to listeners who enjoy Western music and are new to Korean indie.

In this article, I’ll introduce one of ADOY’s signature tracks packed with their charm: “Grace,” released in 2017.

It carries a chillwave-like texture reminiscent of the early 2010s, making it a surefire hit for fans of modern bedroom pop.

Hold On is a medium-tempo track that captures the feeling of falling in love.

It’s the first Japanese-language song by APOKI, South Korea’s first virtual K-pop artist, released in August 2023.

The gently relaxing melody and vocals with beautifully lingering resonance create a wonderfully feel-good vibe.

It seems perfect as background music for a drive or a date.

Speaking of Korea—and sweets—there’s the familiar brand Lotte, and the music video’s cameo by their Watermelon Bar adds a playful touch.

By the way, the Watermelon Bar is said to be one of APOKI’s favorites.

One More Time (with Kirin, Horan)Bronze

Seeing the artwork and fonts for the album East Shore, which includes One More Time, any city pop fan can’t help but grin.

The artwork is by Hiroshi Nagai, who designed the iconic cover for Eiichi Ohtaki’s historic masterpiece A LONG VACATION, and the one capturing the hearts of city pop and AOR fans is none other than Korean star producer BRONZE.

A key producer at the popular label 8BALLTOWN, all of his solo releases feature covers unified by Hiroshi Nagai’s artwork.

BRONZE’s One More Time is an irresistibly catchy, flawless killer duet tune, with guest vocals that highlight a supremely mellow groove.
