A mashup doesn’t have to be limited to just two pieces.

With that in mind, I’d like to introduce the “Classical Mashup.” This is a single track created by pianist Lang Lang, Tao Tsuchiya, and Soshina to commemorate the release of “100 Classics of Rassic.” In it, the three of them each play different classical masterpieces on the piano.

What’s even more astonishing is that 24 pieces are mashed up within about five minutes.

It’s not just combinations—the music keeps changing, offering a curious, ever-shifting listening experience.

An emotionally charged vocal performance and delicate composition weave together to create a moving number.

It’s a work by Rokudenashi, released in November 2024.

The song was also chosen as the theme for episode 2 of the live-action drama Oshi no Ko.

The lyrics deftly capture the protagonist’s inner conflict and growth, offering a chance to reflect on the self that has kept striving for someone else’s sake.

You’ll likely resonate with the determination to move forward while carrying past wounds.

It’s a track that gently stays by the side of anyone in the midst of searching for themselves.

Trash ClassroomRosu

A track that depicts the clamor of the classroom and the march of troubled students.

Ross’s shape-shifting vocals fuse strikingly with bon-odori rhythms and a four-on-the-floor beat.

It delves deeply into a teacher’s inner conflict and sense of powerlessness, as well as the need for self-reform, questioning the very essence of education.

Released in October 2022 and included on the album “Yoru no Tsudoe,” out in December 2024.

Recommended not only for those in education, but also for anyone who questions society or human relationships.

You may discover something new each time you listen.

Kushiro 5:35 a.m. departure to NemuroMioka Shota

Shota Mitsuoka is an enka singer from Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Influenced by his grandparents who ran a karaoke cafe, he began singing enka from a young age, and as a first-year high school student he won the NHK Nodo Jiman competition held in Yokohama, Kanagawa.

After continuing to hone his craft, he caught the attention of Hiroshi Itsuki and made his major debut as an enka singer in 2015.

His charm lies in his rich, mature vocals.

While his voice itself has the youthful timbre of someone in their 20s or 30s, his singing style exudes the poignant depth of a seasoned enka performer in their 50s.

He is 29 at the time of writing, but he will turn 30 on November 30, so we have included him here!

Shoko Nakagawa’s opening theme for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is a masterpiece that truly resonates with listeners! Written by meg rock and composed/arranged by Shinya Saito, the song overflows with messages of courage and hope in the face of setbacks and hardships.

Released as a single in June 2007, it was a huge hit, even ranking high on the Oricon charts.

I imagine many people in their thirties felt encouraged by this song to keep going when they hit life’s obstacles.

It’s the perfect uplifting cheer-up anthem to listen to right now!

A KISS that’s not as impressive as it soundsNogizaka 46

Even when the A-side is the same song, idol CDs often include a different track on the B-side.

This song is included as the B-side on Type-B of the single “Boku wa Boku o Suki ni Naru.” The lyrics are by Yasushi Akimoto, producer of Nogizaka46.

The line “I was really looking forward to that kiss, but it wasn’t such a big deal after all” has just the right amount of heart-fluttering charm to tickle not only girls’ hearts but boys’ as well! While the lyrics alone might make you blush, the bright, upbeat arrangement ties it all together beautifully.

A must-listen, even if you’re not a fan.
