crimsonFuji Ayako

Released in 1996, Ayako Fuji’s single “Beni” (read ‘beni,’ not ‘kurenai’) opens with a line that makes your heart skip a beat.
It’s a classic enka number characteristic of Fuji—expressing the complexities of a woman’s heart with a supple, alluring voice—and a reassuring masterpiece for enka fans.
As a quintessential enka song, it doesn’t feature particularly tricky melodies, so anyone accustomed to singing enka should have no trouble performing it.
Be mindful of the contrast between the leisurely, expansive melodic lines and the more rhythmical sections where the lyrics are slightly packed in, and sing it without forcing yourself.

Kagerou was a rock band in which all members composed songs, and despite being independent, they were highly acclaimed for their wide-ranging musicality.
Their 12th single, “You Saved Me When I Was About to Drown in a Rotten Sea,” was used as the ending theme for the late-night information program “Super V.I.P.” Its lyrics, which evoke the image of parting with someone dear, resonate deeply alongside a rich, layered ensemble.
It is one of Kagerou’s signature songs, debuting at No.

Kozue Nishijima, who served as the vocalist of the female duo music unit Nanamusica, is from Nyuzen, Toyama Prefecture.
As Nanamusica, they made their major debut in 2005 with “Ta-lila ~Boku wo Mitsukete~.” The following year, “Kururi Kururi,” released in 2006, was selected as the theme song for the drama Kobayakawa Nobuki no Koi and became a hit, bringing them wide recognition.
In 2007, Nanamusica announced a hiatus.

CoolGō Hiromi

I can’t help but be enchanted by its urban, sophisticated sound.
“Cool” here is the 56th single, released in 1985.
From deep within its calm melodic line, you can feel a tenderness toward a special woman gently seeping through.
It even makes me feel as if it’s being sung just for me.
Since the vocal range is relatively narrow, you should be able to take your time and sing it with ease.
By the way, there’s also a full English version of this song, so it might be fun to give that a try as well.
