Toshinobu Kubota’s classic and popular songs (31–40)
AHHHHH!Kubota Toshinobu

Released on September 18, 1998.
It was a cheer song for the hitchhiking journey on Nippon TV’s “Denpa Shonen.” At the time, Denpa Shonen was often in the spotlight, and the show even produced hit songs, but there were reportedly various troubles because the cast member Akiko Matsumoto was a fan of Toshinobu Kubota.
It was one of those life-affirming anthems popular in the ’90s, peaking at No.
5 and selling 265,000 copies.
GODDESS ~The New Goddess~Kubota Toshinobu

The third single, released on February 26, 1987.
It was used in a Daihatsu commercial, helping Toshinobu Kubota’s music reach an even wider audience.
At the time, there were no Japanese singers with a similar musical style, so it sounded fresh.
It peaked at No.
21 and sold 51,000 copies.
Nyte FlyteKubota Toshinobu

This is a single released in 2010.
It is also included on the album Timeless Fly.
The song is powerfully moving and achingly beautiful, delivered with deep emotion.
You’ll be hooked by the vocals, whose strength holds its own even against the grandeur of the chorus.
Soul 2 Soul feat. AIKubota Toshinobu

This is a track created in collaboration with a vocalist AI.
It’s included on the collaboration best album “THE BADDEST ~Collaboration~,” released on November 23, 2016.
The two voices blend perfectly to create a funky, happy bounce tune.
A single-hearted night, an unscathed morningKubota Toshinobu

It was the B-side of “GODDESS ~A New Goddess~,” released in February 1987, and was also included on the second album “GROOVIN’,” released in April.
Although he had yet to score a major hit single, the album reached as high as No.
3 on the Oricon charts in both LP and CD formats, and his fan base gradually expanded.
This song may be modest, but it’s more than enough to fully appreciate his vocal prowess.

Rainbow Grand SlamKubota Toshinobu

Released on July 7, 1995.
The theme song for the TV Asahi anime H2.
I’m not sure if it matched the vibe of the anime, but this was a time when tie-ins were the norm.
Amid many more mature songs, this one—being an anime theme—rarely shows a childlike liveliness.
It peaked at No.
15 and sold 121,000 copies.
Hold Me Down feat Angie StoneKubota Toshinobu

This is a track created in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Angie Stone.
It’s a co-written piece by the two artists.
With mellow electric piano tones, simple strings, and an R&B-flavored loop, their soulful vocals blend perfectly, resulting in an exquisite work.
