Hit and popular songs by LEON (Léon)
LEON, a VOCALOID-compatible singing voice synthesis software, was first released in 2004.
LEON (male voice) and LOLA (female voice), among the very first VOCALOID products, were developed in the UK and are designed for English, but it seems some producers have devised ways to make them sing in Japanese as well.
The voice source is said to be a British soul singer, but LEON can handle a wide range of genres beyond soul.
It was originally developed with the goal of handling backing vocals, but nowadays a scene has formed where Vocaloids sing as the main vocals.
Now then, please listen to the singing voice of LEON, the origin of Vocaloid.

Listen To The Music 〜a cappella version〜LEON/akapera P

An entry for the Vocalo A Cappella Fest 2015.
This Vocaloid producer is renowned for lustrous tuning and beautiful harmonies.
For songs with accompaniment, it’s said that the producer’s wife’s opinions are extensively reflected in various aspects such as song selection and the video’s thumbnail image.
ShiitakeLEON / Cheetah Girl P

The lyrics are said to be a follow-up line after a girl he has a crush on drops something in the classroom and he stares at it intensely.
It’s included on the compilation album “Nabe Shogun Ken” presented by MADE INJARAN.
Dreaming Little BirdLEON / Leo P

A duet song by Leon and Lola.
It’s a cover of a duet originally by Kagamine Rin and Hatsune Miku by Hayaya-P.
Although it’s a Japanese-style piece, when these two sing it, it has a unique sensuality and, curiously, it sounds like an Italian canzone.
CaramelldansenLEON / Rights Holder Deletion P

Leon covered a song by the Swedish music artist Caramell.
On Nico Nico Douga, the track became famous for the misheard lyric “Uuh Uuh Uma Uma (゜∀゜),” and, befitting an overseas VOCALOID, it fits perfectly without any sense of incongruity.
Lost Sheep -Remix-LEON/memai P

This is a remix version of the assigned song for KAITO, “Lost Sheep.” It features five singers: KAITO, MEIKO, LEON, LOLA, and MIRIAM.
The image colors are: light blue for MIRIAM, dark deep green for LEON, and dark crimson for LOLA.
Fragments of a StarLEON/Nagato Mikuru P

Leon covered Hatsune Miku’s demo song “Hoshi no Kakera.” This video also uses Vocal-Phonetic, resulting in natural-sounding vocals.
Leon’s high notes have a husky quality and don’t sound feminine, which is a distinctive trait.
What? — People are talking. —LEON/denki kyabetsu

Electric Cabbage’s first VOCALOID piece.
In stark contrast to the upbeat tone of the video description, it features a steady, matter-of-fact rhythm with noise sound effects, and you can occasionally hear Leon’s voice… It has a uniquely eerie, horror-like atmosphere.
It even feels a bit insane.
