GOLDPEOPLE 1

PEOPLE 1 is a band formed in 2019 by three members who met in a university cover band club.

Their appeal lies in their wide musical range, from songs with the sound of an orthodox three-piece rock band to catchy tracks with a distinctive worldview.

They made their major debut with the digital-only single “DOGLAND” released in 2022, which was used as an ending theme for the anime Chainsaw Man.

In addition, their 2023 release “GOLD” was chosen as the opening theme for the anime Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage.

This band, known for lyrics that are negative yet ultimately hopeful, enjoys a cult following especially among young people.

Their sound, influenced by acts like The Smiths, is simple yet irresistibly appealing to music enthusiasts.

Formed around Mukai Shutoku, the vocalist of NUMBER GIRL, this band differs from NUMBER GIRL with its captivating odd-time-signature songs that incorporate synthesizer sounds.

The sound has also become even more angular, piercing straight into your ears.

GLORIAZIGGY

This song became ZIGGY’s biggest hit, but when Jukichi Morishige wrote it, the other members reportedly disliked it, saying it had too many kayōkyoku (Japanese pop) elements.

Its driving, beautiful melody line left a strong impression, making it a track that has gone down in the history of Japan’s rock scene.

In November of the same year they released their first album, “Au wa Wakare no Hajime,” followed by their second album, “Wareware no Moromoro,” in 2022.

PUNKY BAD HIPBLANKEY JET CITY

An indispensable band in the 1990s rock scene is BLANKEY JET CITY.

Formed in 1987 by Kenichi Asai—affectionately known as Benji and still active today as a solo artist—along with bassist Toshiyuki Terui and drummer Tatsuya Nakamura, they drew attention on “Ika-ten,” a show that launched many bands in the 1990s, and made their debut.

Their 1998 single “Akai Tambourine” became a hit.

Influencing many artists including Ringo Sheena, their music is compelling for its wide range and bold, gallant rock style.
