Masaka Rhythm is a local festival that began in 2017 thanks to volunteers in Mutsu City, Aomori Prefecture—and admission is completely free! The event’s name comes from the shape of the Shimokita Peninsula, which resembles a masakari (a traditional Japanese hatchet) and marks the northernmost tip of Honshu. On the day, you can enjoy not only performances by artists from Aomori, but also local gourmet foods and drinks from the Shimokita area. It’s a community-driven festival packed with the passion of residents eager to energize their hometown. We hope people not only from Aomori but also from farther away will come and join the fun.
