Sketchbook Theater

Have fun learning with your friends! Here are some sketchbook theater ideas.

Sketchbook theater is a kind of play where you use a sketchbook with drawings to tell a story.

By showing each character, place, and scene as individual illustrations, you can convey the narrative—and it’s easy to carry around, which is a big plus.

Using pictures also helps express emotions and atmosphere that words alone can’t fully convey, making it a great activity for Children’s Day.

Give it a try!

Nursery School Exploration!

Nursery School Exploration!

What kind of teachers are in which rooms? Here are some ideas for a preschool exploration! It’s sure to excite not only children who are new or transferring, but also those who are already familiar with the preschool.

With fluttering hearts, let’s explore the preschool together with friends and teachers while wondering, “What do we do in this room?” and “Is it okay to go in?” It can also be a great opportunity to learn rules, such as the promises to keep in rooms with tiny babies or in rooms with a kitchen.

Mother’s Day

[Nursery School] Mother’s Day Present — How Will Mom React...?
Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is a beloved occasion around the world for expressing gratitude to mothers.

In Japan, it’s also known as a time to give red carnations.

When making crafts in nursery schools or kindergartens, drawing a portrait of the mother or giving handmade carnations is recommended.

It’s also nice to include a message with the finished piece to convey everyday appreciation.

It’s an event that lends itself to various creative ideas, such as bouquets and letters.

Try putting this celebration into practice to deepen the bond between parent and child.

A Little Stroll

Let’s enjoy a special little walk! Here are some ideas for short strolls.

Don’t many preschools usually make use of parks, plazas, and their own playgrounds for outdoor activities? This time, let’s try taking a brief walk to nearby preschools or public facilities! Interactions among the children, as well as with the people at these facilities, are valuable opportunities to nurture their social skills.

Even as their hearts race with excitement, seeing them reach out their hands and call out to one another really lets us feel their growth.

Fingerplay paper puppet (Pepaato)

May birthday party! We turned a popular hand game into a paper puppet show♪ From a round egg... a chick! An ant! A dinosaur?! (Nursery teacher / Daycare)

Let’s put a fun twist on hand games that are super popular with kids and put on a show! Here are some ideas for hand-game paper puppets.

How many times a day do you play hand games with the children? Among those, take the hand games they’re most into and adapt them into paper-puppet versions to play! It could be fun to set a special Hand Game Day and try playing by adapting them into paper puppets, a panel theater, or even picture books.

Use the children’s reactions as a guide and enjoy the event together with them!

May Panel Theater

May 2022 Birthday Party: “Which one? Which one? Which could it be?”
May Panel Theater

Also great for birthday parties! Introducing a panel theater for May.

At many preschools, teachers put on a performance for the children during birthday parties, right? For those wondering what theme to choose and how to stage it, we recommend the panel theater “Which one? Which one? Which do you think?” It’s perfect for kids who love quizzes! The way to answer is simple, making it enjoyable for infants through preschoolers.

Be sure to use it for birthday parties and other events.

Walk Card

[2-year-olds] Let's take our walk cards and head out!
Walk Card

Spring brings lovely weather and is perfect for going on walks, isn’t it? Try taking a fun stroll around the preschool with a “walk card.” It’s a great idea to draw pictures of spring flowers and insects that bloom or appear around the school on the card.

Before setting out, hand out the cards and check what kinds of plants and insects are drawn—this will make the walk even more enjoyable.

When children find a flower or insect, they can put a sticker on it and talk about what they discovered.

When walking with the card, it’s easy for their gaze to tilt downward, so please be extra careful about cars and other hazards as you enjoy your walk.
