Laura Covered in ScarsSaijō Hideki

The famous song “Kizudarake no Laura,” with lyrics by Daizo Saito and a theme of love.
Hideki Saijo won the Japan Record Award’s Vocal Performance Award with this song, and he also performed it on NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen, so it’s likely a tune that left a strong impression on many of you.
We don’t know who Laura is, but you can feel how deeply the protagonist loves her.
While it may seem like a ballad, there are also up-tempo sections, and the song offers glimpses of the protagonist’s passionate love for Laura throughout.
MyraTani Yuuki

A gem of a love song that begins with the blissful everyday moments of two people waking up together and gradually portrays, with deep emotion, the process of their love falling apart.
It was the first track Tani Yuuki created with DTM after starting his music career, delicately weaving complex feelings for a lover while skillfully rhyming.
Its memorable melody and heartrending lyrics are sure to resonate with anyone facing a breakup.
Released as his debut single in July 2020, it was later included on his 2021 album “Memories.” The song was also featured in a TikTok commercial, capturing the hearts of many.
Highly recommended for those who want to share the thrill of love and the pain of heartache.
Ms. Hanako on a high pedestalback number

This one is for those of you who are in love with someone who feels out of reach: back number’s “Takane no Hanako-san.” Just like the title suggests, it likens an unattainable person to “Hanako-san,” a flower on a high peak, and the lyrics portray falling in love with such a woman—something many listeners will surely relate to.
Even if it’s an unrequited love, this song will give you courage when you listen to it!
walnutMr.Children

Mr.Children is a band that made its major debut in 1992 and has also won the Japan Record Award.
The song is included on their 25th single “Tenohira/Kurumi,” and it’s compelling enough to be considered a double A-side.
Centered on the theme of parting, the lyrics seem to evoke different feelings depending on the listener.
KayoGOING STEADY

Among the songs by the youth punk band GOING STEADY, Kayo stands out as a straightforward love song overflowing with affection.
The lyrics, which recount past memories with a woman named Kayo, are truly heartrending.
At the same time, each of those scenes unfolds before your eyes as you listen, leaving a soft, slightly heartwarming impression.
And Mineta Kazunobu’s singing—while he’s not necessarily technically skilled—comes across as utterly straightforward and sincere.
That, I think, is exactly what makes Mineta Kazunobu so compelling.
Surfing JohnnyKuwata Keisuke

A masterpiece has been born—a love story set on a summer seashore, tracing encounters, partings, and the path to renewal.
Riding on a lively rock sound, Keisuke Kuwata’s lyrical vocals resonate deeply.
Overflowing passion, heartrending farewells, and the courage to find love again after loneliness are all woven together with a refreshing melody.
Released in July 2001, the song was also featured in a Japan Coca-Cola campaign and became a million seller.
It was included on the album “TOP OF THE POPS,” drawing a major response.
It’s a perfect track for those yearning for the arrival of the season of love, as they feel the fresh ocean breeze.

Cynthiayoshida takurou & kamayatsu hiroshi

This song sung by Takuro Yoshida and Hiroshi Kamayatsu is titled “Cynthia,” which was the nickname of Saori Minami, who is often called the original idol.
Takuro was deeply moved when he listened to her song “Soshun no Minato” (Early Spring Harbor) and wrote “Cynthia” as an answer song to it.
The male protagonist in the lyrics is the same man who appears in “Soshun no Minato,” so you can see the continuity of the story.
It’s a wonderful masterpiece that carries the spirits of all three singers.
