I don’t really remember.Mr.Children

The “things I don’t remember” indicated by the title are last night’s events and melodies that came to mind.

I don’t remember those very well, but I will never forget how my now-aging parents looked when they were young, and how they supported me throughout my childhood.

It’s a song that brings me to tears when I think of my own parents.

Dear you…roodo obu mejyaa

This song expresses gratitude to one’s parents and was used as the ending theme for “Kiseki no Tobira: TV no Chikara.” Marking the release of this track, Road of Major held a “Mother’s Day Live” on May 8, 2005.

The lyrics, which cherish memories with one’s parents and affirm living in the present and continuing forward, are deeply moving.

After all, without our parents, we wouldn’t be here.

Mother’s Day in 2020 arrived amid the ongoing impact of COVID-19.

Wanting people to hear a song especially at a time like this, wacci’s vocalist Hashiguchi chose “Hanataba ni Shite.” The music video features photos and videos of “mothers” submitted by the public, and the editing was done by Hashiguchi himself.

This song is about presenting a bouquet to the precious person who has watched over you since you were born.

It’s a perfect track for expressing gratitude to your parents.

Not only for Mother’s Day, but also recommended for bouquet presentations and the bride’s letter scene at weddings.

This is a song chosen as the theme for the 2020 TV drama “Theseus no Fune” (Theseus’s Ship), which moved many viewers with its portrayal of family love.

It was released in February 2020 as a digital single by Uru.

Whose face comes to mind when you listen to it may differ from person to person, but the song depicts a deep longing for someone precious, making it a great recommendation as a thank-you song for parents.

It’s a moving ballad that conveys the feeling of now being the one to support the parents who have supported you up to this point.

A Ballad Dedicated to My MotherKaientai

Kaientai is a folk band that was hugely active in the 1970s.

It’s the band with Tetsuya Takeda as the vocalist.

Kaientai is known for having many songs with moral themes, and among them, the one I most recommend as a song expressing gratitude to a parent is “Ballad Dedicated to My Mother.” While it isn’t about gratitude to both parents, it’s a classic in which a son’s thanks to his mother is expressed in moving words.

The melody is an orthodox folk style, so I think it’s very approachable.

Fumika’s “10,000 Thank-Yous” is a ballad filled with gratitude for her parents.

When we were little, we sometimes made selfish demands, causing trouble and making our parents feel sad—hasn’t everyone done that at least once? Listening to this song brings back memories of those moments.

As we grow up, we realize we can’t be with our parents forever.

That’s why “thank you” is one of those phrases we should say to their face while we still can.

Takashi Yu’s song “Umareta Riyuu” (“The Reason I Was Born”) explores the reason for one’s own birth while asking various questions of one’s father and mother.

Released in 2016, the song was written for a member of Takashi Yu’s own staff who was getting married.

Grounded in the big theme of what it means to have been born, it’s a number that makes you think about what happiness is and what it means to meet the person you love.

As you walk the path toward understanding these things, if you someday have a family of your own, you might be able to convey true gratitude to your father and mother.

It’s a song that makes you look forward to the day that will eventually come—wondering what answers you’ll hold when you thank the two of them.
