Led by TAKA, the four-piece has fired up the energetic melodic hardcore scene.
Even amid a diverse melocore landscape, BURL has carved out a solid position and stands out with a commanding presence.

DestroyerTHE STARBEMS

THE STARBEMS brought a fresh breeze to Japan’s punk rock scene.
Formed in December 2012 around Toru Hidaka, formerly of BEAT CRUSADERS, the band is known for a pop yet aggressive sound that’s fast and emotional.
They made their official debut with the first single “FUTURE PRIMITIVE E.P.” released in April 2013.
Their appeal lies in the fusion of power-pop melodies and the urgency of melodic punk, combined with hardcore arrangements and attitude.
They actively participate in support efforts such as the Tohoku Livehouse Daisakusen project, and continue to perform energetically through live shows.
They’re highly recommended not only for fans of punk rock, but for anyone seeking energetic music.
CLEARPOTSHOT

POTSHOT’s “CLEAR,” a Japanese ska-punk track, has a bright, catchy rhythm that makes you want to play it as driving music.
The chorus has an easy-to-remember melody, so you can sing along after just one listen.
It’s highly recommended for anyone who wants to have fun and go wild to ska punk.
Even if you haven’t listened to much ska punk before, this song will surely show you what makes it great.
Way3style

This is a song by 3style, a three-piece melodic punk band from Chiba Prefecture.
Whenever this ultra-aggressive, uptempo track is played, the live house erupts into a frenzy.
Although they disbanded to much regret and probably aren’t widely known, I think they were one of the best live bands of the 2010s.
Sink Or SwimCastaway

It’s a killer tune that guarantees maximum hype at live shows by the up-and-coming punk band Castaway.
At first listen you might even wonder, “Is this really a punk band?” but the pleasantly paced chorus and Sota’s memorable vocals are must-hear.
Zone TripperFriction

A band that has gone through numerous lineup changes, each time honing its unique brand of punk rock with new forms of expression.
Most recently, they released material with only bass and drums, yet without any decline—if anything, they’re pushing harder than before with an even more intense sound.
APOLLOTHE SKIPPERS

This is a track by THE SKIPPERS, a hard-hitting Osaka punk rock band signed to PINE’S APOLLO, a related label of Osaka’s THE NINTH APOLLO.
In 2017, they released a best-of album and embarked on their first European tour.
As they celebrate their 15th anniversary, THE SKIPPERS are gaining even more momentum—definitely a band to watch.
