A spring festival staple! The appeal of PUNK SPRING
I’d like to share with you the appeal of PUNK SPRING, a spring festival focused on punk that has been held every year since 2006.
What is PUNK SPRING (Punk Spring)?

PUNK SPRING, commonly known as PanSup, celebrated its 10th edition last year in 2015 and has now become a staple of the spring festival scene.
The event is organized by Creativeman Productions, which also runs SUMMER SONIC and other events.
Three attractions of PUNK SPRING (Punk Spring)

The first point is that, since it’s run by Creativeman, it’s an urban-style event, just like Summer Sonic.
When it comes to festivals, venues are often set up in the suburbs or in the mountains for various reasons—such as using large-scale sites, budget considerations, or seeking harmony between music and nature. However, for PANSP, venues are located in easily accessible urban centers, such as Makuhari Messe and Kobe’s World Memorial Hall.
Having the venue in the city center not only makes it easy to access, but also allows people living in nearby prefectures to make day trips, and even those coming from farther away who need to stay overnight will find it easier to secure accommodations—there are many advantages.

And the second point is that it is held sequentially over several days across multiple venues.
For example, in 2015, the events were held in sequence by date in different regions—March 26–27 at Zepp Nagoya, the 28th at Kobe World Memorial Hall, and the 29th at Makuhari Messe—so people in each area could attend Pansupu without having to travel far.
By the way, this year’s Pansup will have two shows: one in Tokyo (Chiba) and one in Osaka (Kobe). They’re scheduled for April 2 at Kobe World Memorial Hall and April 3 at Makuhari Messe.
Also, while there are a few exceptions, most artists perform at every venue, so no matter which show you attend, you can see almost all of the artists.
So this year, MONOEYES and WANIMA will perform only at the Tokyo show, and BIGMAMA and KEYTALK only at the Osaka show; all the other artists can be seen at either the Tokyo or Osaka shows, correct?

And third, the final and biggest point—the very essence of Pansp—is the uniqueness of its lineup.
As you can imagine from the title, Pansup focuses on the punk genre and features artists accordingly.
Strictly speaking, many of the performing artists fall into genres such as melodic hardcore, loud rock, and nu metal/rap-metal (mixture).
You could say the biggest attraction of Pansupu is that you can see tons of artists who are intense, loud, and straightforwardly cool.
In other words, it’s a highly recommended event for energetic live-music kids.

In conclusion
How was it?
Did you get an idea of what kind of event PUNK SPRING is?
In addition to the three points mentioned in the main text, another appealing aspect is that international artists are incredibly hot every year.
Every time, overseas artists that make live-music fans go, “Whoa! We can see a band like this here?!” come to Japan, making for an extremely compelling lineup.
How about kicking off this spring’s festival season with a punk celebration by joining PUNK SPRING?
