Released on June 27, 2001, BRAHMAN’s second album “A FORLORN HOPE” sold over 800,000 copies.

This track is the fourth on the album.

“Last War” rises to meet an inescapable sorrow.

The English lyrics in the chorus make it an undeniably cool song.

Included on the 2nd full-length album, “A FORLORN HOPE.” The track opens with radio-processed vocals and quietly unfolds with clean-tone guitar chopping.

It intensifies at the chorus, yet remains a hidden gem with a sense of clarity throughout.

A WHITE DEEP MORNINGBRAHMAN13rank/position

Included on the 3rd full album “THE MIDDLE WAY.” The music video features vocalist TOSHI-LOW and actress Ryo, and it has also been used in a cosmetics commercial.

Composed with both English and Japanese lyrics, it’s a rare song for BRAHMAN that carries a lingering sense of sadness.

ARTMANBRAHMAN14rank/position

This is a track included on the demo tape “BRAHMAN,” produced in 1995.

Their blazing early impulse comes through just as it is.

Although the title is “ARTMAN,” it was originally a candidate for the band’s name.

The guitar phrase, which gives off a sense of mystery, is particularly striking.

BOXBRAHMAN15rank/position

A Forlorn Hope, BRAHMAN’s second album, was released on June 27, 2001.

It was their first album on a major label.

On the Oricon album chart, it reached a peak position of No.

2 for the week and sold over 800,000 copies.

This track conveys ideas of the “golden mean” and “ascetic practice,” expressed in BRAHMAN’s own words and sung entirely in English.

CHERRIES WERE MADE FOR EATINGBRAHMAN16rank/position

This is a punk cover of Godiego’s “Kimi wa Koi no Cherry.” It’s only natural that the start-and-stop across all the instruments is tight because it’s a recording, but even so, the way it freely moves between eighth-note and two-beat feels is exciting to listen to.

DEEPBRAHMAN17rank/position

This work is Brahman’s first single, “Deep.” It was re-recorded with a different arrangement for the album “A FORLORN HOPE.” I think the title “Deep” here means something like the bottom or rock bottom, rather than “profound.” It’s a piece packed with a powerful message: rise up from there.

Although it’s a track with strong hardcore elements, even listening now, I feel Brahman’s core has never changed.

Brahman, who can stick to such an incredibly cool style, is truly a one-of-a-kind band!

FLYING SAUCERBRAHMAN18rank/position

This song starts with a rhythm driven by a fast-paced drum and bass groove and a catchy guitar riff.

It’s included on their fifth album, “ETERNAL RECURRENCE,” released in 2009.

While it features the signature BRAHMAN sound, it also has a pop feel.

By the way, the song title means “flying saucer.”

FOR ONE’S LIFEBRAHMAN19rank/position

This is “For One’s Life,” the opening track on their second album, A FORLORN HOPE.

From the fleeting, fragile intro to the key change that surges into a passionate verse that makes you feel “life” itself—it’s irresistible! It’s under two minutes long and written in English, yet it’s packed tightly with ideas that make you reflect on life.

That’s how Brahman’s music deepens life.

And on the album, the flow into the following classic, “Basis,” is absolutely perfect!

THE MIDDLE WAY, BRAHMAN’s third album, was released on September 29, 2004.

It made a strong start, debuting at No.

3 on the Oricon charts.

This track is included as the ninth song on the album.

Its grand, innovative chorus melody makes it a highly compelling piece.
