Brief & Trunks are a folk duo who comically capture everyday life within a five-meter radius.

This is one of their early signature songs, released as a single in 1998, which caught fire in popularity through cable radio.

The lyrics depict the bittersweet inner struggle of a man who just can’t bring himself to point out the green powder stuck to his beloved girlfriend’s front teeth.

And in the latter half, there’s a scene where, during their date, a curry-rice smell wafts from her mouth.

The track is also included on the album “The Greatest Harmony Since the War.”

An artist known to those in the know.

They have many other famous songs, but if you’re a middle or high school student, singing them won’t hurt anyone’s feelings—people will probably just laugh.

If you’re not in middle or high school, there are plenty of novelty songs too, so if you’re bored of singing the usual songs at karaoke, why not try going for some gag tracks?

When the weather gets cooler, the roasted sweet potato cart rolls into town.

This song was included on Brief & Trunks’ September 1999 album “Bokura no Ekisu” and was also released as a single.

The lyrics are full of relatable gags, yet it ends up being a lovely love song.

Don’t be fooled by the title—give it a listen!

convenience storeBuriifu & Torankusu4rank/position

This song portrays the fun of shopping at a convenience store and the variety of people you encounter there.

The exchange between the clerk and a customer in the middle of the song is especially striking! If you take that section as a reference and send similar lines, it’s sure to turn into a funny back-and-forth.

There’s a customer who wants oden but can’t decide what to order, and because the structure repeats the same phrases, you can throw lyrics at the other person without worrying about making a coherent conversation and leave them bewildered.

If they know the song, they might gradually start matching the lyrics, too.

You, preserved in formalinBuriifu & Torankusu5rank/position

Brief & Trunks is a folk duo from Shizuoka Prefecture, consisting of Tagayuki Ito and Makoto Hosone.

They formed the group because they were classmates in high school.

The man in this song seems to be living a smooth-sailing life, but what he loves more than anything is gazing at a frog preserved in formalin…

If you focus only on that, it’s hard not to sense a touch of madness, but happiness looks different for everyone.

He seems to cherish the frog very much, so let’s just leave him be.

hallux valgusBuriifu & Torankusu6rank/position

It’s a song by a woman struggling with physical issues, starting with bunions.

It has a catchy, comical vibe that feels like she’s shrugging it all off, and it ends up making you laugh as you listen.

It’s also funny how her problems escalate as the song goes on.

dandelionBuriifu & Torankusu7rank/position

There are many songs that liken life and human emotions to dandelions, but this one is different.

It sings of dandelion fluff drifting on the wind, while depicting the dandelion’s own various hopes and arduous journey.

In the final stretch, an astonishing development unfolds—so intense that it’s hard to believe it’s a Brief & Trunks song.
