ELLEGARDEN, whose long-awaited return to activity has thrilled fans, made their indie debut with their first mini album, “ELLEGARDEN.” This track is the first song on the album.

It’s quintessential ELLEGARDEN rock—bright yet emotional.

It’s included on the second mini-album, “My Own Destruction.” A song you’ll want to listen to at the end of a tiring day.

The wistful, tearful melody is sung gently and warmly.

The somewhat lonely, heartrending lyrics slowly seep into your heart.

The song “Lost World,” included on the 3rd album Pepperoni Quattro.

It opens with an ear-catching guitar riff and moves into an arrangement with a driving, brisk beat that really boosts your energy.

While the overall tempo is fast, the melody is relatively relaxed and the vocal range isn’t very wide, so it’s easier to sing than you might imagine.

There’s an English section partway through, but most of the lyrics are in Japanese, which also makes it easier to tackle.

It’s a rock tune I highly recommend choosing for karaoke.

“Hana” is a track included on ELLEGARDEN’s debut album “ELLEGARDEN,” released in 2001.

It’s a love song tightly packed with a sense of heartache.

The melody is gentle and matches the title “Hana” (Flower) well.

The lyrics are sung with thoughts of someone who is no longer here, and they also portray a perspective from an unnamed flower that always sat by the window.

Bare FootELLEGARDEN54rank/position

The first single from the rock band ELLEGARDEN, whose popularity could now be called legendary.

While many bands sing in katakana-style English, they delivered rock with English lyrics in precise, polished pronunciation—seriously cool.

It was used as the commercial song for TOYOTA’s “Young Campaign TOYOTA HEART LABEL.”

Can You Feel Like I DoELLEGARDEN

It’s a song truly worthy of being called a classic ballad.

In pieces like this, Ubukata’s guitar solos carry a conviction that feels as if some spirit has possessed him.

Even when all you wish for is someone’s happiness, and you can’t even convey that feeling—lyrics like these make you wonder whether, in the end, they’ll understand how you feel.

The word “sunset” never appears directly, yet for some reason the song makes you feel the glow of evening skies.

It is included on the third album, “Pepperoni Quatro.” As the closing track of the album, it is a mid-tempo song brimming with emotion.

The lyrics, written as if speaking to newborn children, leave a poignant afterglow at the end of the album.
