From a dance school! Ranking of GIRLFRIEND’s popular songs

GIRLFRIEND is a four-piece rock band formed mainly by members of the CALESS Vocal & Dance School, which is also known as the alma mater of SCANDAL.

Even before their indie debut, they quickly made a name for themselves, holding a solo show in Osaka shortly after forming.

Although they disbanded in 2021 to much regret, their achievements surely remain etched in the hearts of many fans.

This time, we’re introducing a ranking of GIRLFRIEND’s most popular songs, so if you’re thinking of checking them out, be sure to take a look.

“sky & blue,” which was chosen as the opening theme for Cour 8 of the anime Black Clover set in a fantastical world.

The girls’ band GIRLFRIEND, known for delivering songs filled with girlish feelings, released it in 2019.

A refreshing band sound that elevates the anime’s boundless adventure rings out.

Pay attention to the lyrics that candidly portray a love so pure it makes your heart flutter.

Their cute vocals will lift your spirits.

A coupling track included on GIRLFRIEND’s major-label debut single “15/Hide & Seek,” released in November 2016.

It is also featured on their first album “CHOCOLATE,” released in February 2018.

The lyrics compare a beloved boyfriend to chocolate, expressing an addictive, dependency-forming allure.

They convey just how intensely she is absorbed in him.

GIRLFRIEND was a four-piece band made up entirely of Gen Z women that was active from 2015 to 2021.

I’d especially like to highlight that MINA, who is now highly recognized both as a solo artist and as a technical bassist, was a member.

Her playing, backed by advanced technique, is showcased to the fullest among GIRLFRIEND’s technically demanding songs.

“FULL HOUSE,” from their second album HOUSE released in 2020, features an aggressive slap bass that is seriously cool.

The bass lines are so intense and continuous throughout the track that it almost feels like a solo for the entire song.

If you love technical bass tones, this is a must-listen!

GIRLFRIEND, formed in 2015.

With dark-tinged melodies and a cool vocal tone, you’ll be drawn in after just one listen.

They’re also well known for providing the theme song for the film Hell Girl.

The steady, solid bass line is especially addictive.

They’re a girl band with high expectations to break out next.

A song in which the girls’ band GIRLFRIEND covers Kenshi Yonezu’s smash hit.

With an arrangement that brings the band sound to the forefront more than the original, it achieves a track that feels weighty and powerful within a floating atmosphere.

Plus, having a female vocalist changes the nuance of the lyrics, making it a number that even fans of the original can enjoy.

Take It From MeGIRLFRIEND6rank/position

Girlfriend was a rare girls’ group from Australia.

I assumed they were an imitation of the Spice Girls, but it turns out they debuted first.

Their debut single, “Take It From Me,” topped the charts in their home country, but they failed to sustain their success and disbanded in 1996.

GIRLFRIEND is a girls’ band from Osaka.

Their song “Soredake.” was released digitally in January 2020.

The track was produced by singer-songwriter Shota Shimizu.

The collaboration came about because both acts share a connection as alumni of the same vocal and dance school.

It’s a love song that expresses the indescribable, heartrending feelings of a woman in love, along with her pure, single-minded devotion.
