hide's Popular Songs Ranking [2026] (21–30)
MISCASThide29rank/position

A self-cover of a song written and composed by hide during the X era.
Compared to X’s version, this one has much heavier effects—especially spatial distortion—so much so that it’s practically a different song, deeply imbued with hide’s signature style.
I recommend listening to it alongside X’s version to really experience hide’s individuality.
OBLAAThide30rank/position

This song is hide’s first solo single.
It was released on August 5, 1993.
The single was released simultaneously with his second single, “50% & 50%.” While the music video’s psychedelic visuals are striking, the track itself has a strong rock feel with a pop finish.

POSEhide31rank/position

A track from their second album released in 1996.
Often used as the opening number at live shows, it’s an intense, passionate song.
Beyond the heavy, razor-sharp band sound, it also weaves in piano and sequencer elements.
All the instruments blend perfectly, intertwining with exquisite balance to create a striking piece.
SCANNERhide32rank/position

A track included on the 1994 album “HIDE YOUR FACE.” It combines a heavy, imposing sound with a driving sense of speed.
This is a live performance, and the shout at the end really hits home.
There’s also a version of this song featuring a duet with Ryuichi Kawamura from LUNA SEA.
Be sure to check that out too!
DOUBT ’97(MIXED LEMONed JELLY MIX)hide33rank/position

This is the 1997 re-recorded version of “DOUBT,” rearranged as hide with Spread Beaver.
The original track was included on HIDE’s second single “50% & 50%,” released on August 5, 1993, under his solo name.
This version adds even more aggressive lines that weren’t in the original “DOUBT.” The song has been rearranged multiple times, and it feels like it was a very important piece to hide.
LASSIEhide34rank/position
“LASSIE” is a song included on hide’s second solo album, PSYENCE, released in 1996.
You can hear a dog barking in the middle of the track, but it’s said that it isn’t a real dog—hide himself is doing the barking.
It sounds just like the real thing.
Give it everything you’ve got—you’re not going to die.hide35rank/position

These are the words of HIDE, who was active as the guitarist of X JAPAN from 1987 to 1997.
It’s said that he struggled with complexes as a child, and perhaps he wanted to convey that if you try your hardest, you can make things work out.
The same person who made such statements sadly met an untimely death in 1998—whether it was suicide or an accident remains unclear.
