Another track from the 2011 release: a piece from the album “Cruise,” put out on Muller Records, the label run by Frank Muller a.k.a.

Beroshima.

With chopped-up sax and harp sounds and a delicate pad drifting in, it’s a mysterious tune.

It’s more for listening than for the dance floor; if you were to hear it in a club, it’d be perfect for an opening set.

The karaoke-style music video is distinctive.

It features a use of the vocoder that was rare in technopop at the time.

Takkyu Ishino, playing a taxi driver, takes a woman to a land of dreams.

Combined with the visuals, it’s a catchy number that’s very popular with fans.

It carries a near-futuristic vibe reminiscent of Daft Punk, yet under Ishino’s hand it’s crafted into a sound that, in just the right balance, feels like down-to-earth local gourmet.

A song written for the debut collection of “Noodle,” created by stylist Kumiko Iijima and art/film director Hideyuki Tanaka.

Aimed at “people bored with today’s fashion” and “those seeking a thrill from clothing,” the brand concept distills fresh wear into a fantastical city-casual style.

The track is technopop with a faintly nostalgic mood—a revival piece.

Y.H.F. (Original Mix)Takkyu Ishino18rank/position

A track from the album “Cruise,” released by Muller Records.

Within the album, this one stands out with a clearly defined melody, and it doesn’t use an even four-on-the-floor kick.

There’s a distinctive arpeggiator that occasionally lends a mysterious atmosphere.

As with the rest of the album, the synthesizer timbres have a soft, cosmic quality.

Tavito Nanao and Takkyu Ishino—an unexpected dream collaboration.

It seems they’ve known each other for a while, and this project finally came to fruition.

Nanao’s guitar intertwined with Ishino’s synths and effects creates a delicate, tinkling atmosphere.

Would you call it downtempo or electronica? There’s also a subtly deep, dubby vibe to it.

It features an irresistibly upbeat melody that’s perfect not only as driving BGM but also for dancing, just like in the commercial.

Godiego’s “Monkey Magic” is a familiar track as the theme song for the drama “Saiyuki.” The version used in Toyota’s Yaris commercial has been arranged by Takkyu Ishino, PUNPEE, tofubeats, and UA.

While the original already carried a funky groove, this rendition incorporates techno and hip-hop elements to make it even more danceable.

The occasional bursts of intensity are also a highlight, and throughout the piece you can clearly feel a sense of fun and exhilaration.

The commercial that features this song juxtaposes dance with the Yaris in motion, showcasing its stylish performance.
