Singer-songwriter Yuka, whose stylish musicality evokes the essence of Western pop—thanks in part to having spent her childhood overseas—has made a strong impression.

If you’re in your teens or twenties, there’s a good chance you already know her.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is “sugar.” It features a delicate sound and vocal line reminiscent of 1990s Western rock.

That said, “Western-inspired” doesn’t mean it’s difficult.

It actually sounds better if you don’t sing too perfectly—keep it loose—so give that a try for reference.

An artist who has been active for many years with distinctive lyrics and melodies, Naotaro Moriyama.

When it comes to his vocals, most people probably picture his unique falsetto, right? It’s true that many of his songs use falsetto, which can make them hard to sing for those who aren’t confident singers.

However, Akane is different.

Among Moriyama’s works, it’s unusually narrow in vocal range and unfolds at a gentle pace.

For anyone who finds singing difficult, it couldn’t be easier to sing—so be sure to check it out.
