A rock band that debuted in 1989 with Maki Watase on vocals, known for signature songs like “KISS ME Now” and “BELIEVE IN LOVE.” After disbanding, they resumed activities in 2014, but in 2018 it was announced that Watase had functional voice disorder.

Hoping to hear her healthy singing voice as soon as possible, we present a ranking of their popular numbers.

LITTLE WINGLINDBERG8rank/position

LITTLE WING, featured as the opening track on their third album LINDBERG III and used in a Kyodo Oil commercial, is one of the band’s signature songs.

Although it was never released as a single, it’s well known as a live staple and even lent its name to the fan club.

The vocals stay in a high register throughout, but the overall range isn’t very wide, making it relatively easy to keep on pitch in karaoke.

If the key doesn’t suit your voice, try adjusting the machine’s key settings and give it a go.

LOOKING FOR A RAINBOWLINDBERG9rank/position

It sings that the rainbow we saw long ago with my childhood friend is a hope for life.

At first I thought this childhood friend was a boy, but in the end it makes you feel she is a girl.

The messages from the teacher and friends telling me to stay away convey the childhood friend’s loneliness keenly.

Above all, the phrase that they were hurt more than others because they hated “lies” is a sad one.

MINELINDBERG10rank/position

The song “MINE,” included on the first album LINDBERG I.

It features lyrics written for the first time by vocalist Maki Watase, and is also known as a live staple that she has sung since her idol days.

While it requires attention due to the sharp drop in dynamics and pitch from the chorus to the A section, as well as occasional leaps in pitch, the relaxed rhythmic flow of the melody makes it easy to sing.

It’s a heartfelt number whose lyrics—overflowing with the desire to support someone dear—are deeply moving.

I Miss You -Lover Soul-LINDBERG11rank/position

The 14th single “Aitakute -Lover Soul-,” chosen as the commercial song for Fujifilm Corporation’s AXIA, was released simultaneously with their 6th album, LINDBERG VI.

Its rock sound featuring a catchy guitar riff leaves a strong impression.

While the melody includes many leaps that can make it easy to go off pitch, it’s slow-paced and simple, making it easy to sing at karaoke.

It’s a cute pop tune you’ll want to sing while imagining the feeling of wanting to see the one you love.

Cute or BeautyLINDBERG12rank/position

The song “Cute or Beauty,” included as a B-side to the 20th single “Kiyoku Tadashiku Ikou,” was used as the first theme song for the information program Mezamashi TV.

It’s also featured as the opening track on the 7th album LINDBERG VII, and its lyrics powerfully portray a passionate love for someone special.

Although the melody stays in a high register overall, the range isn’t very wide, so if you’re not confident about the key, it’s easy to try by setting it to whatever is comfortable for you.

With a vocal that’s both cute and powerful, it makes a strong impact—definitely a number to add to your karaoke repertoire.

I MISS YOULINDBERG13rank/position

The 9th single “I MISS YOU,” released ahead of the 1st mini-album “EXTRA FLIGHT.” Its cute lyrics and melody carried by a bouncy shuffle beat will likely make many listeners reminisce about their own youth.

While the melody features many large rises and falls and stays in a relatively high key, the overall vocal range isn’t that wide, so try adjusting the key in karaoke to suit your voice.

With many repeated phrases, it’s an easy-to-remember, catchy pop tune.

Let’s go just the two of us.LINDBERG14rank/position

Included as the B-side of the 17th single released in 1993.

It served as the first ending theme for the TV anime “Heisei Inu Monogatari Bow.” The A-side, “Daikirai!,” was the opening theme for the same anime.

Heading out on a picnic with your dog? This might be the song.
