“Sorcerous Stabber Orphen,” alongside “Slayers,” was one of the two flagship series of the classic Dragon Magazine, and it stood out from other fantasy works with its distinctive style, including a more modern setting.

This song doesn’t feel very fantasy-like either.

By the way, the original novels and the anime differ quite a bit in content.

Even Though I Love You This Much [cover] (Sharan Q)

One of Sharan Q’s hit songs.

It sings of the pain of loving someone single-mindedly but being unable to tell her.

The woman he loves seems to have another man she likes.

He can’t get her out of his head all day—he’s crazy about her, and it hurts.

He finally gets a chance to be alone with her and decides to act, ready to pour out the feelings he’s kept hidden! Sharan Q excels at songs about men who devote themselves to women, or slightly soft, sensitive men.

Included on the 1993 album “Urekko e no Michi: Jūtai-chū” (Road to Stardom: Stuck in Traffic).

Opening theme for TV Tokyo’s “Super Mario Club.” A four-piece rock band from Osaka formed in 1988.

The sultry vocals of Tsunku♂ fit perfectly with the sound built by the simple yet powerful drum tones and hard-edged guitar, resulting in a well-crafted track.

If you’re going on a date in Osaka, the love song you absolutely should listen to is Osaka Elegy.

It’s a track by Sharan Q, a band from Osaka, included on their 1996 album GOLDEN Q.

With breezy guitars and brass-accented, moody sounds, it exudes a mature vibe.

Yet, in contrast to that sophistication, it also conveys a warm, cozy feeling—like you can picture a couple strolling happily together along Midosuji, a landmark in many Osaka songs, and around the Dotonbori area and Ebisubashi-suji Shopping Street, famous for Osaka’s gourmet delights.

Its catchy melody also makes it a great pick to sing and enjoy at karaoke!

Released just three months after the smash hit “Iiwake,” this is a melancholic ballad centered on the mid-to-low register, and it was featured as the ending theme for Fuji TV’s “HEY! HEY! HEY! MUSIC CHAMP.” Rather than Tsunku♂’s high notes, its low tones are especially appealing, so it’s a song I’d love to hear from singers who excel in the lower range.

Because low notes can sound muffled and hard to hear, the key is to make them resonate clearly.

Basically, low notes naturally resonate in the chest; if you direct your voice toward your head as you sing, both your head and chest will resonate, and you’ll suddenly hear your own voice better and increase your volume.

Don’t hesitate—project your voice with confidence!

It was released in 1997 as Sharam Q’s 13th single.

The song was used in a Suntory “Bitters” commercial in which the band appeared, and it reached No.

3 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

Around this time, while continuing band activities, Tsunku also began his work as a producer on the TV program ASAYAN.
