Christmas Love ~After the Tears, White Snow Falls~Sazan Ōrusutāzu99rank/position

Southern All Stars, a band leading Japan’s rock scene.
Their first-ever Christmas song is “Christmas Love (After the Tears, White Snow Falls).” It’s also well known as the song used in Marui’s 1993 Christmas campaign commercial.
The piece depicts a man who seemingly has suffered a heartbreak and the beautiful cityscape as snow begins to fall.
In the latter half, sampled bell sounds and whistling make the arrangement even more festive.

I can’t help but feel that Kuwata-san has such a broad, rich world that transcends genres.
Just when you think it’s wild and chaotic, a gently sentimental side peeks through, like in this song… Sunset, high school, and memories of a tender first love.
I felt anew that this, too, is part of Kuwata-san’s world.
